The Coach House with walled garden
Our converted coach house offers a cosy corner in the busy village of Downton from which to visit the historic cathedral city of Salisbury and the open spaces of the New Forest. Parts of the property date back to 1475 with links to the Bishops of Winchester. There is plenty on offer in and around the village, with local shops, gardens, pubs, walks and bicycle rides along the River Avon. Bournemouth beaches are not far away. We welcome dogs for a fee of £20 for up to 2 dogs per stay. There are stairs up to the double bedroom mezzanine, and there is additional accommodation for another adult and child with the full size single bed (doubles up as an extra sofa) and a pull-out single bed underneath. This is a single bed on a wooden base which can stay out and is comfortable. We can also provide a travel cot with bedding, stair gates and a high chair for those with a toddler. We must make you aware of the various STAIRS in the property if you are bringing a crawling baby or toddler. The cottage has its own private walled garden with direct access from the cottage. There is off-street parking outside the cottage. There is also a shed in the garden which can be used to store bicycles. There are 4 steep steps from the back door up into the cottage's own private garden. Those with small children MUST be aware of this please. We are on site to show you around and help with queries but will leave you to your own devices. The pub next door serves good pub food, and has a small cosy bar with lots of atmosphere - perfect for a pint of the local ale. The village of Downton has easy access to local shops and amenities, such as a Co-Op, a local butcher, and an award-winning café. The public gardens, the "Downton Moot" a Norman motte and Bailey and landscaped gardens are just around the corner. The River Avon winds its way through the village. Downton is on a direct bus route from Salisbury to Bournemouth. The nearest train station is Salisbury. Easy access to Southampton Parkway and both Southampton and Bournemouth Airports. We welcome dogs but we do have a charge of £20 per 2 dogs for their stay which we collect on arrival. Logs are supplied for the wood burner. If more are required then there is a £10 charge.
