Our lovingly restored cottage offers a home from home. Enjoy traditional features such as a wood burning stove and a flagged floor whilst relaxing on one of the comfy sofas. When you’re ready to explore, a wealth of independent shops, cafés and bars are within a 5 minute walk. Stroll the scenic route into the town centre either through the park or via the canal towpath. Good for walkers, cyclists, live music gigs, art & cinema lovers. Step into the lounge where, as well as the two sofas, you’ll find a dining table to seat four. and a log burning stove. There is continuous WiFi access and the flat screen Smart TV is set up for Netflix and viewing DVDs only (we don’t have a license for live TV). In the well-appointed kitchen we have a fan oven, induction hob, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and fridge. There’s also a compact ironing board and iron. On the first floor are two double bedrooms and a quirky, contemporary bathroom with a shower over the full sized bath (you need to climb two steps to get into the bath). I am a painter and the artworks on the walls are either original paintings or giclée prints. Please enquire if interested in purchasing any of my work. Children... ** When making a booking, please inform us if your group includes children younger than five years of age. Points for your consideration are as follows: •We are set up mainly for adults with two double beds and we don't provide any equipment such as stair gates, cots, baby bath etc. •The stairs are carpeted but please be advised that the lounge is stone-flagged with a largish carpet square in the middle and all other rooms are finished with varnished or painted floorboards. •The wood-burning stove can be a hazard for young children when in use; however, the cottage has central heating and guests wouldn't necessarily have need of the stove. •And finally, there are three stone steps from the kitchen out to the back yard. On a plus point for the children, the cottage is situated across the road from the town park with a safely enclosed kiddies area and skate park for the older ones. In the warmer months, the Park Life Café is open so you can enjoy tasty refreshments whilst watching the children playing on the swing or grass. The ground and first floors are available for guests' exclusive use. The attic floor is unavailable to guests (this is where we keep the linens and cleaning materials etc.). We are only a phone call/text away should you need help. Emails are also possible but there may be a delay in response time. Some information on local events is available at the cottage. For a wider view of happenings, the visitor centre is a few minutes walk down the main street just before the cinema. The library is also a good source of information. The cottage is centrally located in the town so you don't need a car unless you plan trips further afield. There are frequent trains to Halifax and Leeds or in the other direction to Todmorden and Manchester. We are on the main bus route to Todmorden and Halifax. There is an hourly bus service from the railway station to Haworth. Unfortunately, there is no parking at the house but you may park free on the main road towards Halifax. There is a small pay and display car park just off the station approach road which is two or three minutes walk from the cottage. Please remove outdoor shoes before going upstairs. Unfortunately, there is no parking at the house and there are double yellow lines on the main road outside but there is a small pay and display car park just off the station approach road which is two or three minutes walk from the cottage. You may park free on the main road towards Halifax. During the winter months (Nov to Mar inclusive) we provide a starter supply of wood for the log burner in the living room. If you need additional supplies there is a wood merchant by the railway station in Hebden Bridge where you can buy kindling and logs. No candles/tea lights are to be used. Although we don't have a TV licence to play live programmes, you do have other options :-) The 40" flatscreen TV is a "smart TV" and is configured for use with the internet. Netflix is available as is Youtube. As long as you have a licence at your home it is possible to connect portable devices such as laptops via the HDMI cable provided to the TV should you wish to view live TV. ***Please note that your device should not be connected to the electricity supply as this contravenes the rules. We have a DVD player and a selection of titles for you to enjoy - or bring your favourites from home. We would appreciate it if, at the end of your stay, you could place damp towels in the bath. The cast iron fireplace in the front bedroom is not connected to the flue and therefore doesn't function.
