10 minutes walk to Colchester Town Centre or the bus is round the corner. Private double Bedroom, living room and (Website hidden by Airbnb) are basic food making facilities in the living room including a microwave, fridge and kettle. There are three rooms for your exclusive use but these are within our family home. We may meet in the hallway but that's the only exception to complete privacy. We have an attention seeking, (but very friendly), Spanish Water Dog. We are COVID double vaccinated. We have a 4 bedroom large Victorian house about 10 minutes walk or a bus ride from central Colchester. The nearby 'Colchester Town' station has trains to the coast, to the main (North) station and London, and to Wivenhoe. Essex University is about 3 miles away and can be reached by a pleasant walk, or a bus ride. We are also on the road and bus route to Mersea Island about 8-9 miles away. You will have a double bedroom, an upstairs living area-next to your bedroom with basic food preparation facilities ie Microwave, toaster, Panini machine, kettle and fridge. There is a basin in the bedroom or bathroom to access water. We are en suite and there is a downstairs toilet, so that whilst you stay the upstairs 'family' bathroom will be for your use only. We do have a travel cot and high chair so could accommodate a baby or toddler. We have a large garden which can be accessed by guests and the washing machine may be used by negotiation with us. We have a very friendly Spanish Water Dog who wont come into your space if you keep the doors shut. Because of this we do not accept other dogs. We are very social and like to go out to live music, the cinema and theatre so can advise you about local activities and interests. We are in a residential area of Colchester called 'Newtown' as it was new in Victorian times compared to the older dutch quarter and much older areas in the town centre. We live off the Mersea road which leads to Mersea Island (well worth a visit). There are nearby areas of natural beauty including Mersea, Abberton reservoir, Dedham and Flatford (made famous by the painter constable), other very pretty villages such as Coggeshall Wivenhoe and Rowhedge and the Essex Coast such as Clacton, Frinton and Walton. Colchester itself is the oldest recorded town and has many historical features including the Castle and dutch quarter. There are no restrictions to parking in the street and we have a drive for one car which we are happy to share. Buses run to town and Mersea less than a minute walk away. The nearest station is 'Colchester Town' where you can get links to Colchester North Station and Liverpool Street London is 40 minutes to one hrs train journey away. The other direction from 'Colchester Town' is Wivenhoe and the Essex Coast. We have young grandchildren so may have children in the house. We also have a friendly dog. My husband is in a band and they have occasional rehearsals in our front room which we will warn you about at the time as they tend to be quite noisy! They usually finish by 10pm latest. We have vulnerable family members and cannot put them at risk. We prefer double vaccinated people, or may require a lateral flow test result.
