The Odysseus windmill is a renovated three-storey stone building near the castle of Volissos, above the village. It is a family windmill that has been transformed into a home with great care offering its guests all the comforts. It has a unique view. It overlooks the entire Aegean Sea, the peaks of Mount Pelion, but also the Castle of Volissos. One of its key features is that it is powered by solar energy (green energy). In the outdoor seating area, you can enjoy your drink, your coffee or your meal, having at your feet the traditional settlement of Volissos and the Aegean Sea. At the same time, the visitor can find himself by car or on foot in the center of the Volissos area, as well as on its popular beaches. Outdoors there is also a playground and a large lawn area. Inside, on the ground floor of the Windmill, is the living room (there is a sofa that has a twin or a double bed), with the kitchen and the bathroom. On the 1st floor there is a double bed and on the 2nd there is also a double bed with WC. Visitors have access to all the free outdoors that are inside the protective rope that surrounds it. Also in the interior, two doors are locked, one has inside, all that is needed for the operation of the photovoltaic system and the other has inside the burner for the heating system and the hot water. The hosts are at their disposal throughout the stay to solve any queries or concerns regarding the area and the accommodation. Odysseus's windmill is located in the village of Volissos, a settlement built on the site of a small ancient town called Volissos or Voliskos, and is traditionally cited as the place where Homer lived: "so much so that the thieves were made" (V) . It is the capital village of northwest Chios (Amani) and around it there are a total of 18 traditional villages, each of which has a special and special interest with rich sights for the visitor. In Volissos there is a multipurpose office, pharmacy, Eurobank ATM, Municipality of Chios, two mini markets, gas station, Post Office, Hairdresser, traditional bakery, many taverns and traditional cafes, as well as bars, in the center of the village and in beaches, Limnia and Lemnos. Objectively, the wider area of Volissos has some of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Chios, awarded with a blue flag, organized (Lefkathia, Limnos, Gonia, St. Markella) but also free, Managros, Anemilos, Magemena, Lampsa and others . Volissos is 42 kilometers from the port and 44 kilometers from the island's airport. It does not have frequent public transport and it is necessary to use a private transport. During the summer months there is a daily connection to the town of Chios with Volissos once a day, while in the winter months the connection is made three times a week (one itinerary each day). At the same time, Volissos has a ferry connection with the historic island of Psara during the summer months. The PSARA GLORY boat departs in the mornings and returns late in the afternoon every Saturday and Sunday. In the windmill area there is a stairway leading to the two separate bedrooms, which will make it difficult for people with mobility problems who can only be accommodated in the comfortable sofa that turns into a bed in the ground floor of the living room. During the visitors' stay, we would like to be aware of the electrical appliances that will want to operate in our area, as the windmill uses the energy of the sun in order not to pollute the environment. Heating and hot water is provided by a unit that works with LPG. Outside there is an image recording (three cameras) for security reasons from a closed circuit television.
