A perfect Cotswold hideaway in a peaceful village with 14th century pub & church with large garden. Just a few minutes' drive from famous Bourton & Stow, but in a true village. Carefully restored to keep all original features, but modern facilities. Great country gastropub within walking distance. Food shops less than 2 miles away. So many Cotswold towns now have lots of tourists. This village is just that, a farming Cotswold village, yet near lots of restaurants, pubs and shops. Every detail of the cottage has been thought through to keep the country "cottage" feel, from a woodburning stove in a stone fireplace to a Rayburn cooker. But there is also a microwave, central heating, and Wifi! The balance in location and design is perfect. NEWSFLASH: Cottage again awarded Gold Rating by English Tourist Board - Dec 2016 Guests have access to all amenities, including parking for 2/3 cars, freeview TV, DVD, wifi, etc. there is also a washing machine and dryer. There is an English agent who live in the next village available if needed. I have an obsession about personal service, not just machines with endless tape recordings an options and waiting 20 minutes to be answered.. I always make sure that I or my agents are available at the end of my mobile if needed. My motto is "personal holidays with personal service". Cotswold villages can be full of tourists and tourist buses. We are within 3 miles of the famous Bourton-on-the-Water and 5 miles of Stow-on-the Wold, but ours is a genuine village with just an 18th century village pub, church that dates back 1000 years and a local cricket team! It is very picturesque, but also quiet and surrounded by farms. Lots of walks go literally from the front door, not via a coach park! Kingham railway station is 6 miles away and there are regular direct trains to London and lots of taxis. There is also a bus from Kingham to our village, Great Rissington, and on to Bourton in the Water which in turn is connected to lots of other bus routes. But, yes, a car is best and there is parking for 2 cars on the driveway and no yellow lines around so further ones can easily be parked in the road. Bicycle hire is also possible. We even provide details of a hire company that will deliver and collect cycles from you. There is a safelock, so we can be very flexible about arrival and departure times, subject to needing to clean the place between guests. We offer a text service to confirm late stays or early arrivals. We even provide some wood to get you going with the real fire! The cottage has guidebooks on walks and facilities in the area and there is even a small library for rainy days.
