The Wagtail hideaway is located in the heart of Thetford Forest. This recently refurbished stylish and luxurious cottage has direct access to the forest and is popular with walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and those wishing to escape everyday life. The property is ideally located to explore Norfolk & Suffolk, including Sandringham and the North Norfolk coast. Located 4 miles from Brandon train station and one mile from Mundford village which has shops, pubs and cafes. You will have this luxury cottage all to yourself. It is equipped with high quality furnishings, underfloor heating, fast wifi and smart TV. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob etc. The Wagtail is self-contained and located within a beautiful shared walled garden set in over 1.5 acres and brimming with wildlife. The garden has well stocked borders, a stunning pavilion with seating, fire pit and bbq (please bring your own charcoal), which is shared with other guests. There are also deck chairs for you to use. No road noise and good quality mattresses means you will have a wonderful night’s sleep! On site there is the Shepherds Baa cafe which is open every day from 9 to 4pm. Lakes, rivers and endless walks are just a stone's throw away. Breathe the fresh forest air and immerse yourself in nature! Thetford Forest is full of nature and is off the beaten track. A car is a must, but we also recommend bringing your bikes to explore the forest and really enhance your stay! The property is next to Lynford Lakes and Arboretum (tree collection). You will have the entire property to yourself which is ideally located to explore Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The Shepherds Baa hut is onsite and servesa wide variety of drinks, cakes and pastries. Mundford village is only one mile away and is easily walkable. Within the village there is Browns which serves a lovely breakfast or lunch and the Crown which has a beer garden and serves great pub grub. The village also has a butchers, convenience store, fish & chip shop and farm shop cafe. Brandon train station is 4 miles away and has good links to the cities of Norwich and Cambridge. We are busy with a business & a baby but you may see us around during your stay We are of course always available by phone or email/ message! The property is nestled within Thetford Forest and is next to Lynford Lakes and Arboretum (tree collection). There are endless walks just a stone's throw away. Breathe the fresh forest air and immerse yourself in nature! We have The Shepherds Baa coffee hut next door, serving fresh cakes, savoury snacks and real coffee! It is open daily from 9am to 4pm. The area has lots of great things to do and we recommend: A walk around the historic towns of Holt, Burnham Market or Bury St Edmunds A trip to Cambridge, take a punt down the river and explore the historic colleges and gardens Oxborough Hall, followed by lunch in the Bedingfeld Arms pub opposite Norwich Castle and Museum and the Cathedral is a great day out and the city is excellent for high street shopping and nightlife Morston/Blakeney, take a boat to see the seals Great Yarmouth has a wonderful 'Time and Tide' museum, along with a pier and amusement arcades. If you have children with you, the Hippodrome Circus is a world class act, not to be missed! High Lodge/GoApe is a fun day out with forest canopy adventures, ziplining and segways Thetford, 15 miles Kings Lynn, 23 miles Bury St Edmunds, 23 miles Newmarket, 27 miles Sandringham, 30 miles Norwich, 37 miles Hunstanton, 37 miles Holt, 40 miles Cambridge, 50 miles Cromer, 50 miles A car is the best way to get the most out of the area. We have plenty of space for you to park. However if you are coming by train Brandon (BND) train station is 4 miles away (from Kings Cross or Liverpool Street change at Cambridge) or Thetford (TTF) train station is 7 miles away. We wouldn't recommend relying on the local bus service! ***Please note that during this booking period we are renovating a property to the rear of this one and so there will be periods where there may be some noise. We will try to keep this to a minimum and within reasonable hours. Most guests will not experience any disruptions but there is a possibility of some noise.*** Please be aware that we have a strict no pet policy at this property. Mobile phone signal isn’t great, you will get signal around the grounds but sometimes it can be patchy. It is best to enable wifi calling as the wifi is good. We are in the forest away from public transport so you are advised to have a car in order to make the most of your stay. There is a military training area close by so occasionally you will hear aircraft and training exercises in the distance. We politely request that you drive in and out of the drive at walking pace as we have two labradors and, although they are not often roaming free around the parking area, it is possible.
