The small and picturesque village of Detling is found on the slope of the North Downs, just northeast of Maidstone, and on the Pilgrims' Way - ideal if you're looking for a break only a short distance away from London. With a wealth of Oak Beams, cathedral ceilings and an Inglenook style fireplace with wood burning stove (fuel provided from months of 1st October-May inclusive). The Cottage in the Wood is the perfect escape in the Kent countryside for up to 4 guests. Natural stone floors throughout giving a cosy, warm and welcoming Interior. Nestling in the woods with stunning uninterrupted views over the local vineyard with sunsets to die for, particularly with the views out of the master bedroom with its full-length windows and the hot tub nestling within the oak framework of the cottage. Enjoy lazy country walks through open countryside and within reasonable walking distance of two local country pubs. The main town of Maidstone within 10minutes drive. With a number of features including wood burning stove (fireplace; bag of firewood provided from months of 1st October-May inclusive, additional bags £6 please see picture in gallery), new TV and Bose sound system, fully fitted kitchen and sheltered exclusive use hot tub. The Cottage in the Wood makes for the perfect hideaway and escape. Master bedroom: 1 x kingsize bed with views directly over the neighbouring countryside and North Downs and a connecting shower room. Bedroom two: 1 x double bed and en-suite bathroom/shower. Open plan living area, with kitchen, dining area and cosy lounge with TV, Bose sound system and real log burner fireplace (fuel provided from months of 1st October-May inclusive). Self contained compact gardens in a wooded area to front and rear with your own secluded and exclusive use hot tub with natural stone seating area with Firepit with cooking trays (for bbqs) overlooking vineyards. Off-road Parking for two vehicles. We live on the same site as the property however limited interaction with guests. MAIDSTONE 3 miles Rochester 9 miles; Canterbury 20 miles Kent's county town, Maidstone, lies at the heart of the Garden of England. Here orchards and hop gardens surround quaint villages and must-see heritage sights. In Maidstone visitors can indulge in a morning of retail therapy exploring the shops at Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, before enjoying a cultured afternoon at Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery. A popular place to visit is The Archbishop’s Palace, a 14th century building on the banks of the River Medway. Speaking of the river, why not climb aboard the Kentish Lady for a scenic cruise through the Maidstone Millennium River Park? Once you reach the Kent Life Museum, you can gain a fascinating insight into Kent’s rural history in bygone times, whilst an interesting day out can also be had examining the elaborate sleighs, sedan chairs and horse-drawn vehicles of the Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum of Carriages. Although Maidstone is a thriving town full of restaurants, pubs and theatres, it’s surrounded by stunning countryside. Walk or cycle the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or venture south to Dover, for a trip across the channel, or stop off at the National Trust property Stoneacre. A visit to this part of Kent would not be complete without a day exploring Leeds Castle, said to be the loveliest castle in the world. Once home to Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, its opulent rooms reveal stories of English royalty throughout the ages, whilst its glittering lake, 500 acres of glorious parkland and fun maze are great fun to explore. Maidstone is a bustling county town, with so much to do on its doorstep.
