Our two bedroom cottage was historically part of the old Kentwell Hall estate. It is located within the grounds of our Regency house, about a mile outside the historic village of Long Melford. It overlooks the beautiful Glem River Valley with direct access to a number of public footpaths. It's an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and those looking to enjoy the amenities of Long Melford and the surrounding countryside. Due to an unprotected pond, this accommodation is not suitable for children. Our cottage is a single story building with two double bedrooms; one ensuite with bath, the other is a four poster bed with its own shower room. It has been renovated to a high standard and includes a comfortable sitting room with a wood burning stove and TV, a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area for 4 guests. All the rooms have French doors with direct access on to a private terrace overlooking parkland in one of the most beautiful areas of Suffolk. It stands in 4 acres of secure parkland with off street parking for 2 cars. Guests have the use of 4 acres of parkland and direct access to a public footpath which leads to Kentwell Hall and Long Melford. There is parking for 2 cars outside the cottage. Julian and Sue Glasgow live in a house adjacent to the cottage and are on-site to welcome you. They have a small Cocker Spaniel called Suki. Long Melford is a tourist destination with well supplied bars, cafes, fine dining, two historic stately homes and the iconic Holy Trinity Church. There are antique warehouses and independent shops within walking distance from the cottage. There are many footpaths and cycling routes in and around the village. It is recommended you have a car to get around although there are lots of walking and cycling routes. Long Melford is a mile away by car, or 25 minutes by foot using public footpaths. The nearest station is Sudbury which is 10 minutes away by car or taxi. The area is well supplied with supermarkets and restaurants within 2-4 miles of the cottage. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with a washing machine. The sitting room has a work desk, two comfortable sofas, a wood burning stove and a TV with Netflix. Towels and bathrobes are supplied with fresh linen. We also offer a welcome pack containing bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk, homemade jam and free range farm eggs. It is recommended that you have your own transport due to the rural location of this property.
