Birmingham City Centre is 5 miles away and approximately a 15 minute drive Cadbury World and Bournville village are 1 mile away. Bournville with its lovely green, cafes and historic buildings, including Selly Manor Museum. Shopping area, cafes and pubs 5/10 minutes walk. Numerous supermarkets locally. Plenty of parking both on road and on our drive. There is a gym 10 minutes walk. Additionally there are amazing facilities at the University, including an olympic size swimming pool, squash and badminton courts and brilliant classes.I am a member but you can pay as you go. All the parks in the vicinity have facilities, such as tennis courts, table tennis tables, children's play areas, lakes and streams. The house and the lovely wide tree lined road are special. We love the area as there are so many green spaces and such wonderful period architecture. Also, and very important to us is the ability to access all the facilities we want easily by road, bus or rail. The shopping is brilliant , from supermarket shopping, to markets, to designer outlets. Additionally wherever we live has to have a good gym and we have that too. If you prefer to exercise outside, with all the parks it makes it great for running or just having a walk. There are running clubs and pilates classes. Having Rowheath Park and Pavilion 3 minutes walk is excellent as it is beautiful. You can fish, watch the ducks or just sit by the lake which is so pretty and peaceful, or go and sit at the cafe overlooking the park , or watching your children playing and enjoying the many facilities. There are also usually a number of events taking place. We often take a picnic and purchase a flat white from the cafe. There is a bar and seating outside. Moreover, there is a bowling green. Opposite the Pavilion are playing fields for football and rugby. There are various special events during the year. The cricket pitch and another bowling green is on Cadbury's Playing field less than a mile away. We also like getting on the canal path at Bournville and walking or cycling into the City Centre (4.2 miles) . It is easy and you can see the canal boats until you arrive at Gas Street Basin. The latter is between the Mailbox and Brindley place with all its shopping, bars, restaurants , cafes, Sea Life centre, Cinema, The cube (more choice of restaurants/spa etc). Or just pop on the train and get there in about 15 minutes. Birmingham City is a young vibrant area which is developing all the time especially in preparation for the commonwealth games (and hopefully the E-prix for the first time) with all the usual attractions (museums, botanical gardens, music and food festivals, more personal type cinemas (electric, mockiingbird) as well as the normal larger ones. There is easy access to a number of music/theatre venues (Genting/Barclaycard/O2/Symphony, Hippodrome etc), Cultural venues such as the new Bird's Nest Library, Millennium point and so on. Edgbaston Cricket Ground (Ashes and 5 world cup 2019 matches) is about a 20-30min walk or by 45/47 bus from Cotteridge (4 min walk). Queen Elizabeth/womens/childrens hospital is 30min walk OR 10 mins on Bus or Train (KNN - UNI). Orthopaedic hospital is 20min walk or take bus into Northfield. Uber's are also available in the area. Great public transport (Bus, Trains, Trams, Uber, Taxis, Cycle Ways expanding) and good roads. It is 10 minutes to the M42. Lovely walking area as previously described. As we are on the outskirts to the South of the City is is easy to access the countryside within 10 minutes drive. By Car The Lickey Hills Country Park is 13 minutes, Clent Hills 20 minutes, Drayton Manor Theme Park is 35 minutes and West midlands Safari Park is 40 minutes away. Easy road access to other scenic areas such as Stratford, Malvern Hills, Warwick castle etc. Nearest Train station is Kings Norton (5min walk) which takes you to Bournville (although walking is about 10mins), Selly Oak (with it's vast array of local eateries etc to accommodate the large student area), University (access to the QE hospital and other medical receptions), Five Ways and Birmingham New Street (15min train journey) and costs about £3 return. Please be polite and respectful to our neighbours and remove shoes in the hall as soon as you enter the property. NO parties, excess alcohol consumption, noise, Celebratory alcohol fuelled events in the house (i.e Hen/Stag etc.) Please also ensure that you put all the rubbish in the correct bins outside. We ask for ALL guests to be respectful, considerate, understanding at ALL times. The area and Birmingham has a lot to offer with events throughout the year from music, concerts, arts, cuisine, parades, etc. We will do our best to ensure any questions you have are answered or at least try to find out for you.
