Blidworth Dale House, a classic Nottinghamshire country house, lies between Nottingham and Mansfield near the ancient village of Blidworth in heart of Sherwood Forest. The house is surrounded by mature parkland and is situated in the middle of a working farm. The Dale is conveniently situated to getting in to Nottingham, Mansfield or Southwell. Blidworth Dale House West Wing Welcome Blidworth Dale House, a classic Nottinghamshire country house, lies between Nottingham and Mansfield near the ancient village of Blidworth in heart of Sherwood Forest. The house is surrounded by mature parkland and is situated in the middle of a working farm. The house has evolved over time. The 18th century block, housing the west wing, comprised the original house. In 1834 Thomas Parsons of Nottingham erected the main part of the mansion. The walled garden, ha-ha and park were laid out in the 1850’s by Johnathan Hardcastle with some additions to the south in the 19th century erected by the Webbs, who were also the owners of nearby Newstead Abbey. The Dale is conveniently situated to getting in to Nottingham, Mansfield or Southwell. Please see our contact page on how to find us. Blidworth Dale House is a member of the Historic Houses Association (HHA) (Website hidden by Airbnb) Guests have access to Blidworth Dale House - West Wing, together with off road parking and a private lawned area. We will welcome you to the House upon your arrival. Our family live in the larger Blidworth Dale House attached to the West Wing. We are more than happy to advise you on what to do in the area together with directions on how to get there. However we are equally happy to leave you to enjoy the West Wing if that's what you prefer. Local attractions If you want to leave the Dale there is a good to deal to do locally: - A hike along the Robin Hood way - the famous footpath which crosses the farm - Newstead Abbey, the former home of Lord Byron - Rufford Abbey - Thoresby Park and military museum - Clumber Park - Cresswell Crags - The Peak District -Notts (Hollinwell) Golf Club -Norwood Park Golf Club -Ramsdale Park Golf Club -Southwell Minster -Nottingham City Centre -Nottingham Castle -Nottingham Caves -Chatsworth -Hardwick Hall There are also activities for children: -clip and climb -wheel gate park -white post farm -Nottingham National Ice Arena - original home to Torville and Dean. If you time it right you could even see the famous Nottingham Panthers Places to eat within a 5 miles radius * The Black Bull * The Hutt pub * The Fox and Hounds * The Little John * The Sherwood Ranger/Ve Raj (excellent curry) – you can walk across the fields to this one! We have an elderly cocker spaniel called Clippy who loves to meet new people. Her daughter Gigi is also now part of our family. The stairs in the wing are narrow and steep as they are the original 1700’s stairs.
