Grade II Townhouse, ideal for Cotswolds & Oxford
A great space to come back to while exploring all that Oxford and the surrounding Cotswolds has to offer. Our lovingly restored, four double bedrooms, Grade II listed Townhouse retains exposed stone walls and beams, as well as having all mod cons and a wood-burner to keep you cosy! We’re in the heart of a bustling market town, on the edge of the Cotswolds with plenty of shops, restaurants, cafe's, pubs and country walks for you to explore! Our period property retains all the charm of a Cotswold cottage while providing you with the space of a Townhouse. We have lovingly restored period features such as cast-iron radiators and wooden flooring, and re-painted throughout with Farrow & Ball colours. Downstairs there is a large, open plan kitchen, dining and living area perfect for socialising and entertaining larger groups, or a more intimate evening sitting around the wood-burner. The living room retains its original flagstone flooring and an inglenook fireplace. There are logs and kindling, as well as plenty of books, DVDs and a TV, which are free to use as you like. A small step up leads you to the open plan kitchen and dining area, with a separate utility room and downstairs toilet, both rooms have access to the patio and the Cotswold stone-walled garden. Outdoors, there is a patio area for you to enjoy your morning tea or coffee, while up the steps is a large wooden sleeper table and benches (seats up to 8 people), perfect for al-fresco dining in the warmer months. On request from guests, we are also happy to provide festoon lights hung up in our apple tree and outdoor lanterns with candles for you to enjoy! Please help yourself to any of our cooking apples too, they make a great crumble! There is also further seating under our pergola, where you can enjoy the sunshine all through the afternoon and into the evening. We can also provide fire pit & BBQ on request for your stay. At the top of our garden, we also have a garden office with a small wood burner and sofa, perfect for getting cosy on a colder evening. On request, we can also provide a child’s swing & slide for children to use during your stay. The first floor of our house includes the master bedroom, main bathroom and a nursery room. Our spacious master bedroom has a king size bed and beautifully high beamed ceiling. We hope you enjoy the super-soft bedding and snuggly duvet, it’s a great place to rest your head! We will always be a phone call away for any help or information you might need. Check in and check out times are flexible, depending on bookings. Some of our favourite jaunts are The Three Horse Shoes, The Fleece, Mum’s Nepalese Kitchen (hidden food gem), Witney Blanket Hall (one of Witney’s most historic buildings, well worth a visit to their café for a pie!), Old Pill Factory (a splendid vintage and home furnishings shop), or the many country walks nearby which we will be happy to recommend to you. Stone’s throw away… For a typical Cotswold pub experience, we love to visit The Old Swan & Minster Mill at Minster Lovell, the Lamb Inn at Burford or The Bear at Woodstock. Roaring fires, beams, quirky rooms, great service and fantastic food! Quintessentially Cotswolds! Our top restaurant recommendation would be The Feathered Nest at Nether Westcote (14mi) for a truly special dining experience. If you want your very own wooden teddy bear to take home with you then visit the Wood Gallery on Burford High Street. We have both lived in Oxford, so know it very well! A favourite area of ours is Jericho and Little Clarendon Street with many great places for cocktails and food. We have plenty more places and sites for you to enjoy on your stay here, please get in touch to ask. For any wedding guests wanting to stay nearby to Cogges Manor Farm, we are less than 10 mins walk away. We are also a short drive from other wedding venues, such as Eynsham Hall. If you require dropping off at any event or parties, please do get in touch as we may be able to help. A 40-minute bus ride takes you from our front door right into the heart of Oxford. Busses run regularly all day with the last bus back at 3am on a weekend so you can enjoy a night on the town with all Oxford has to offer! Into the Cotswolds there are also short bus rides to Burford, Minster Lovell and Woodstock so exploring the area couldn’t be easier. Our nearest train station is Long Hanborough, a short bus or drive away (5.7mi) Charlbury Train Station (8.9mi), Oxford Parkway (11.9mi) and Oxford Train Station (13mi) are also all nearby. Street parking is available for up to 2 hours directly outside of our property Mon-Sat until 6pm. There are no restrictions on Sundays. Free parking is available on the adjacent Holloway Road and The Crofts. We’re in the heart of a bustling market town, close to the shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs- on a Friday or Saturday night it can be quite lively; however, we do provide ear plugs to help guests get a good night’s sleep.
