This accommodation is in a large Edwardian house in Caterham located opposite the lovely Queens Park and perfect for country walks where you can see animals in fields and listen to bird song all year round. Depending on what is available at the time, guests are accommodated in one of three private guest suites each with country views, two sleeping areas and ensuite bathroom. Two are on the middle floor of the house and one is in the attic area of the house and has its own private staircase. We provide guests with their own private suite on the first or second floor of this large Edwardian house. The suites all have a main bedroom with large double or kingsize bed, a second room with single bed and / or double sofa bed; an ensuite bathroom can be accessed from the main bedroom and a few kitchen appliances, including microwave, toaster, fridge, kettle, single induction hob, crockery and cutlery are available in the second room so guests can prepare breakfast or snack meals in the privacy of their own space. The suites are accessed via a main front door, hall and one or two flights of stairs. Larger groups could book all three suites and would then have the entrance hall and stairs entirely to themselves. There is ample storage in all three suites as guests are given access to storage units, a chest of drawers, storage boxes or extra hanging rail. All guest suites include a private bathroom either with a walk in shower or with full length bath and shower attachment. Ample bedding, towels, linen and more are provided. Off street parking is included free if available. All guests at Parkgate House have free WiFi and the suites are either equipped with private TVs with Sky network package included or Netflix access via our private account. These accommodation options would be perfect for families visiting the London area who do not want to pay expensive London prices and who are safety conscious and are looking for a safe and secure neighbourhood to come home to in the evening. Country locations are particularly important at the moment when social distancing is still a consideration. We are located opposite a park and walks in the beautiful North Downs makes this a perfect mini break option during these very strange times. This accommodation could suit people visiting friends / family in the area, wedding guests or even wedding parties where all three suites could be booked. If people fancy a change of scene, this accommodation could be the perfect staycation option for anyone working from home who fancies long walks, pub lunches and the occasional trip to London as an alternative to going abroad during this very volatile Covid era. We are very flexible and are happy to provide guests with Monday to Friday rental if they are working in the area and would like to go back home at the weekend or weekend accommodation if they need to care for elderly relatives or visit children that do not live with them during the week. We would not charge for the room or the storage of luggage if it is left packed and tidy in a designated area of the space, during times that guests are not in the accommodation. Our suites have also attracted people in-between properties or those refurbishing their own home and needing to find alternative accommodation for the occasional night over a period of several weeks. We are very flexible and always open to requests so if this does not fit your criteria or price range then please contact us anyway and let us know what exactly you are looking for and we will see if we can help There is a shared communal entrance for everyone but the suites all have their own lockable doors. At the moment we are only renting suites to one or two groups at a time but guests can book all three suites if they are travelling in a larger group and are all I the same bubble. We live on the ground floor of this property ourselves but it is separated from the rest of the house and we have our own entrance. We are friendly and welcoming but we also respect our guests' privacy and we take the present social distancing rules very seriously. At present we are operating a ‘no contact’ policy at all times so as to keep all of us safe and virus free. We clean the communal areas on a regular basis and we have provided sanitizer in the hall, half landing and in the suites themselves. Check in is between 3:00 and 8:00 pm and check out by 10:30 am This accommodation is in a prime road in Caterham located opposite the beautiful Queens Park where you will find tennis courts, badminton courts, charming cricket, bowling and croquet greens, a flower garden, an outdoor gym area and an excellent children's play area. Caterham is a very safe, residential neighborhood so if safety is something you are concerned about then look no further. Caterham itself is nestled in the hills of the beautiful North Downs attracting walkers and ramblers from London and beyond. If you would like to experience riding in the beautiful North Downs, we have a link with a riding centre just a short drive away from Caterham. This centre runs holiday courses for children and teenagers where they actually adopt a horse of their own for the entire duration of their time there and are taught to care for it, groom it and, of course, ride it. Holiday courses run from one half day to up to 14 full days; you would not believe how reasonable the rates are for such a fantastic riding opportunity. As we are members of the Surrey National Golf Club all our guests can benefit from temporary membership and can enjoy a truly spectacular carvery lunch in the club house (with or without a good game of golf beforehand). What is and is not open will, of course, depend on social distancing laws at any given time Parkgate house is a 7 minute walk from Caterham station, where guests can catch a train taking them to central London in less than an hour. Bus stops are just around the corner and can take guests to neighbouring towns and to Croydon where they can shop till they drop. We are also within very easy reach of airports, stations and buses. Gatwick airport is just 13 miles away (20KM). Taxi and station transfers can be arranged with local taxi firms at very reasonable costs. London is one of the most important capital cities in the world and as such is a year round magnet for young and old alike; but it is also vast, daunting and can be expensive. By staying in Surrey, you can save a considerable amount on hotel costs and still visit London every day. It is certainly easier to self isolate in this area than it would be in London so that too is worth considering. Although London is just 50 minutes away from Caterham by train this area has much to offer which guests should be aware of: Caterham is home to the Miller Centre Theatre. The Miller Centre players are excellent and past guests have admitted to enjoying low cost productions at the Miller Centre far more than expensive productions on the London stage. Within driving distance of Caterham are: Hever Castle, the ancestral home of the unfortunate Anne Boleyn, Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill, Leeds Castle with its magical towers, turrets and moat, the beautiful Chaldon Church and so much more. But the occasional day in London is a must for holidaymakers visiting this area. London is the European Capital of Theatre, Musicals, Opera, Dance and Concerts to suit all tastes. London has a vast selection of restaurants to suit all budgets. You can have steak and ale pie and a pint of beer for a few pounds in any pub in the area or enjoy a world class English, Indian, Italian, French meal at one of the thousands of restaurants in and around London - all very competitively priced. Otherwise treat yourself to something a little special at one of the many Michelin Starred restaurants all over the capital. We can recommend a few when you get here. As for shopping - London has it all. However, what is open and what isn't when guests are here will depend on social distancing laws at that time. The weather in the South East of England can be very warm even hot in the summer months (from May to September) but the weather anywhere in England can be quite unreliable so people should always come prepared for rain. Spring and Autumn in Surrey are lovely; this area is known for its beautiful, colourful walks; our bluebell woods are truly wonderful and the north downs are spectacular in the autumn months. Winter can be very cold some years yet extremely mild in others. However, London's attractions are amazing whatever the weather and the Christmas season is truly magical. We are located just a stone's throw away from charming country pubs, excellent golf courses and so much more. We are also a short drive from Brighton and other coastal towns for an easy day at the seaside. As we provide total flexibility in what we can offer our guests, our rates may need to fluctuate accordingly.
