Blue House Leros

The Blue House is a wonderful, spacious neo classical building overlooking Panteli Bay on the beautiful island of Leros. Built in the 19th century and comfortably sleeping 10 people, with thick stone walls, wooden floors, high ceilings and antique furniture - the house has tremendous character and an amazing, peaceful energy. The Blue House still retains many of its original features and sense of grandeur, large airy rooms, high wooden ceilings and beautiful antique furniture. Sit on the terrace and look out to the sea, the bay of Panteli and Kalymnos island beyond. The Bedrooms: All bedrooms have aircon. 1. The Double. Antique painted wooden bed, antique armoir, cane sofa and access to terrace. 2. The Studio. King size traditional Greek raised bed, en suite bathroom with hamam style shower room made from exisiting brick domed bread oven. 3. The twin. Twin room with two large single antique French iron beds. Original built in wooden cupboard, desk and original plasterwork shrine with bird detail. Great views acoss to island of Kalymnos. 4. Four singles made from old turkish chestnut beams with central staircase. The beds each have their own recessed space with light and are more like couchettes than traditional bunks - very cosy. Big sofa, chest of drawers and cupboard space. Kitchen/dining: Very well equipped and large kitchen, including fan oven, large fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster, blender etc. Lots of pots and pans, utensils - both owners are keen cooks, so if you like to cook you should be happy here. Dining table with banquette seating for up to 12. Courtyard: The door to property opens into private courtyard with bougainvillea, jasmine and herbs in original planters. There is also an outdoor victorian needle shower in the courtyard, good for cooling down or washing off sand from beach. Salon: Large salon room upstairs with 5m high wooden ceilings, large sofa, antique table, lovely vintage stereo with lead for iPod/phone music. Terrace: Great for early or late evening drinks, sit below the byzantine church of Christos and look out on to Panteli and the islands of Kalymnos beyond. Guests can use the washing machine situated under the main staircase. Cleaning and washing can be arranged, at additional reasonable cost but will need advance notice to arrange. Bath towels are provided, guests must bring their own beach towels. Sheets will be changed once a week during your stay. If you would like them changed more often or would like to arrange for cleaning in the house please get in touch before your stay and we will try to arrange this, at a reasonable extra cost. Sole parking space is situated just behind the house. The beach and restaurants at Panteli are a 7/8 minute walk away. The shops and cafes at Platanos square are 5 mins walk. Agia Marina is also within walking distance. If you choose not to rent a car, cabs are available at Platanos square or you can phone to pick you up at the house. There is also a bus that travels through Platanos several times a day connecting to the rest of the island. Due to recent changes in Greek tax law it is necessary that the person making a booking provides their passport number or ID number prior to arrival - the same as you would when booking a hotel.
