U Kyslika - room #1 - simple life, Garden of Flow
Shared holiday home. Simple accomodation in a small village below the Jizera Mountains, in a constantly reconstructed former farmhouse with recycled equipment. Instead of hotel comfort we offer genius loci, peace, personal approach and a bit of punk. There is a shared kitchen, WC, functional bathroom, Wi-Fi and a big natural garden, where you can relax and eat whatever you find. We specialize in cyclists, nature lovers and refugees from civilization. Nearest shops and restaurants are 2km away. This room is designed to comfortably accomodate a pair or a small family for a longer stay (we can provide a crib or inflatable mattress). The window faces north-west, with a view of the garden and occasional sunsets. Our house is an old farmhouse built in 1875. We bought it in 2014 and are rebuilding it into a shared living space for people like us - tired of cities, wishing to have a sustainable life somewhere in peace, connected to nature. Most of the work is done at little or no cost, by our hands. We have about an acre of permacultural garden. There is a meadow, young edible forest, plenty of places to chill, fireplace... The house also provides many spaces to explore. The only off-limits space is our private living quarters. Otherwise you are free to access/explore the whole property - the garden, barn, sheds, attic, cellar... you name it. If you wish, you can see the construction sites as well (more rooms, new bathrooms and common spaces...). We like to meet new people and talk with them. On the other hand - if you want to have absolute peace, we are able to respect that and you won't see us much. We are familiar with the area, so we can recommend almost anything from shopping to trip planning. We also know a thing or two about biking. Just give us a knock ;) We reckon there are more horses and cows than people here in Ludvíkov, a small and quiet village in which we live. It lies in the Frýdlantsko area - a border land tucked behind the Jizera mountains. It actually is closer to Poland or Germany than any Czech city. This land is poor in money but rich in nature. To the south you have the mountains and to the north there are rolling hills. Main attractions/activities are cycling (there are about 80km of MTB trails and many half-forgotten roads), skiing, hiking, sightseeing, rural peace and wonderful forests. There is a bus stop in the village (one of the buses even goes to Prague). The nearest railway station is 2km away. The house is right next to a main road and a major cycle route, so it is quite easy to get anywhere you need. You can use sheltered parking in our garage or a barn. The house is big and built of stone, so it stays quite cool, even with heating. Be sure to pack some warm clothing, especially if you're coming outside the summer season. You may not be our only visitor, so please be considerate - to the others and the nature. There is no canalization in the village - use eco-friendly stuff if possible. Some spaces are still under construction, therefore we are not absolutely clean, only as clean as possible.
