This lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales overlooks open fields, the River Wharfe and has a wood burning stove. You'll be close to the Dales Way footpath, some great cycling and two fantastic pubs too. This fully-furnished, 2 bedroom cottage can sleep 3/4 people (1 double & 1 single room plus fold-up bed) with fully-equipped kitchen (including washing machine/dishwasher), sitting room and bathroom. The comfortable, heated living room has a wood burning stove and all the mod-cons. A sunroom overlooks the front garden shared with a collection of human/dog-friendly chickens, ducks and the odd sheep to keep you entertained. Guests have full access to the cottage and grounds. Guests will generally be left to their own devices, although I live over the road so if you have any questions, just ring the doorbell. There are numerous attractions on the doorstep so long as you enjoy walking, cycling, pubs and cheese to name but a few. Within Appletreewick itself there is a post box, payphone, a lot of quaint old buildings and two brilliant pubs; the Craven Arms with its thatched cruck barn and the New Inn, the world's first non-smoking pub. According to Wikipedia (so it must be true), Appletreewick received the accolade of being 'Britain's Friendliest Town to Drive Through' in a 2009 rural driving study. Although Appletreewick and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are most easily traversed in a car or on a bike, Skipton bus / railway station is about 20 minutes away and Ilkley bus / railway station is about 25 minutes away - both are 30-40 minutes from central Leeds. There is a limited bus service called Pride of the Dales which runs from Ilkley station to Grassington via Appletreewick and I could also pick you up from Skipton or Ilkley for a small charge if needed. For guests bringing their bikes, there is plenty of space in one of the barns for them which is provided free of charge. During high season in the summer we may require a longer minimum trip length. Although pets are welcome, please provide advance notice of this. Leaving dogs unattended is not allowed.
