'The Owl Hoot' - Large rural Shepherd's Hut
This large shepherd's hut is named 'The Owl Hoot' which gives you clue who your neighbours are here! Situated on a small-holding off a quiet country lane you can enjoy some peace and quiet in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the doorstep of the White Peaks of the beautiful Peak District. A great base for Alton Towers, walking, cycling and forgetting your day to day obligations. The Owl Hoot is well equipped for short or longer stays. There is a large king size bed which is padded to make a comfy daybed. You will have a full electric oven, under counter fridge and all The utensils to rustle up a meal if you mood takes you. The bathroom in the Hoot is large by traditional standards, with a flushing toilet and enefitting from the underfloor heating which runs throughout when temperatures drop. Or you could light the wood burner and enjoy the cosy glow of warmth and light it offers. Eat at the extending table in the Hoot, or on your own private patio overlooking the garden and fields which is equipped with a coal bbq and fire-pit. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden outside The Hoot and to visit the horses and sheep (We keep a small flock between our land and my sister's. They come here to lamb and you will see the little ones racing around the fields in Spring! My Dad and I live on site and will be around if you need us for anything. Ipstones is an unusual little village and a special place to live. It has one of the most beautiful settings and I would say nearly every house has a cracking view; yet it has not followed the path of many similar villages in the area and become a holiday-home wilderness. It is a thriving village with 3 pubs , a butchers ,a shop and some of the friendliest people you could wish to meet. Ipstones has a heart! Of course we are very close to Alton Towers and The Peak District, but lesser-known gems are The Roaches outside Leek, Consall, Coombes and Dimmingdale. You can happily walk from your front door and fill an hour or a day. Guests have their own free parking place. It is a short walk (15m) to The Hoot, which does include steps. Public transport is not worth mentioning in Ipstones-we are poorly served and in reality you will be limited without your own wheels. Cyclists are most welcome. We will store your bikes for free. There is some fantastic cycling around here; lots of disused railways ( Manifold valley/ Tissington trail) and also canal paths which take you into Stoke and straight through the historic heartland of the potteries ( think Middleport on the great pottery throwdown, which haas a lovely cafe and visitor centre and now 'The Oat-cake Boat' , a canal boat serving Staffordshire specialities). Bring a torch for walks to the pub or down to your car through the garden! Media Info - The Owl Hoot has an ethernet connection and smart TV. She is logged in on iplayer and itv, but you will need your own Netflix/ Amazon Prime account. If you have work to complete (booo!!!) or you have films downloaded onto a laptop you could pop the table under the tv for your computer and plug it in with the cable feeding the computer. Viola! We cannot promise WIFI however. You are welcome to check things outside my house and the village pubs have free wifi , otherwise it is digital detox! Well behaved dogs are welcome, although they need to be kept on a lead in the garden (sheep, horses, cat!). We charge £10 for their stay and ask please if they could be kept off the bed:)
