Full of style and detail, this delightful home is ideal for those seeking a chic yet cosy getaway. Set high above the Atlantic, sits the exceptional Hesken Cottage. With ever-changing views of the stunning, surrounding landscape and coast, this meticulously designed and decorated home is the perfect base for exploring all that ‘Poldark Country’ has to offer. Ideally located deep in the rugged Far West of Cornwall, Hesken Cottage is aptly named after the well that used to run by the cottage. With views of Geevor Tin Mine, which was at one time at the heart of the Cornish mining industry and old mine shaft relics dotted along the coastline, you really feel among Cornwall’s rich history here. The house itself offers a comfortable, homely retreat to escape to at the end of the day with plush interiors and plentiful amenities. Neutral shades of blue, grey and white make the cottage an invitingly calm space throughout and the ultimate escape from the pace of modern-day life. LOCATION Hesken Cottage is wonderfully located up a private lane at the end of a small village in the heart of the far west of Cornwall. The area around Pendeen is a really magical place, often referred to as ‘Poldark Country’, it is in many ways untouched by modern-day life with its tin mining relics and unspoiled coastline. If you’re looking for a walker’s paradise to explore off the beaten track then the comfort of this wonderful home is the perfect spot to do so. From the doorstep you can see and walk straight to the outstanding Pendeen Lighthouse, historic Geevor mine, or peaceful Portheras Cove, a stunning locals beach. For surfers, hop in the car and you can be down on Sennen or Gwenver beaches, both a short drive away. You won’t be disappointed by the stretch of golden sands, dunes and crystal-clear water and popular surf break. At the end of a day of beaching, head to one of the local pubs: The North Inn is lovely for a sundowner in the garden or good pub grub. Maria Chica’s is a small independent café serving up exceptional tapas style dishes and there’s Lil Chippy for fish & chips. The wonder of Pendeen is that you’re never far from some of Cornwall’s best bits - grab an ice cream from the Moomaids café in St Just only 10 minutes away, or dine out in St Ives in less than 30 minutes or spend the day on the magical St Michaels Mount. LIVING Painstakingly refurbished and redesigned by the owners, with their own family in mind, the open-plan living space feels immediately inviting with gorgeous, natural lighting flooding the whole space. Sit back on one of the sumptuous velvet sofas and snuggle up in front of the wood burner or take in the lush garden views stretching out to the Atlantic coast beyond. The living room exudes stylish comfort and it really is the quintessential space for gathering all of the family or group to unwind in front of a film or get involved in a board game. The glass room with its rocking chair offers the most idyllic warming spot at any time of the year. Sit back, relax and plan the adventures ahead. COOKING & EATING Everything about this home has been carefully thought out to incorporate comfort and practicality, and the kitchen is no exception. This modern kitchen still retains its cottage roots through its traditional tiling and subtly-coloured cabinets but has all the equipment needed to rustle up a feast for your loved ones. There’s an electric hob, oven and grill, dishwasher plus much more. The windows let in plenty of natural light and offer absorbing views making it a relaxing place to cook. With plenty of space for everyone to join for a pre-dinner drink at the little dining table or the snug seat, the whole room feels set for socialising. Have dinner in the glass room around the chic dining table. And with the sunset as your backdrop, it makes for a truly memorable dinner party experience. (If you’d like a special event catered for do ask, we have some superb contacts.) SLEEPING Hesken Cottage has 4 bedrooms set over 2 floors all with a wonderful blend of elegance and beachside style. All have award winning, Emma memory mattresses for a great night's sleep. The master bedroom on the first floor has a sumptuous king bed and window with captivating views of the garden and coast beyond. The second bedroom on the first floor also has a gorgeous king-size bed with equally stunning views. The third bedroom is perfect for the kids with bunk beds and quirky interiors. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor and has a double bed which is ideal for single occupancy or just for some extra chill out space during your stay. BATHING The bright family bathroom has a spacious overhead shower as well as a jacuzzi bath for soaking away and unwinding after a day at the beach. There’s a heated towel rail, toilet and hand wash basin. There is also a separate WC next to the main bathroom and with an incredible vista of the gardens and sea it really is a "loo with a view". OUTSIDE French doors lead out from the living area into the gorgeous lawned garden, complete with outdoor dining table and chairs. Sheltered by an old Cornish hedge it’s a beautiful spot for a spot of al fresco dining in the sunshine. There is also a private paddock opposite the house. It's a perfect area for dogs to play. Just be careful and supervise children at all times outside, particularly around the old container in the paddock.
