FAB COTTAGE- COMFORT, VIEWS, PEACE- NEAR DITCHLING
Perfect for family get-togethers or weekend breaks, guests love the peace, privacy & natural surroundings here. In a tiny hamlet away from traffic/noise, with fabulous downland views, this detached 4-bedroom Victorian cottage retains original features, stylish new bathrooms, really well-equipped kitchen, & is comfortably appointed throughout. Great walking / cycling right from the cottage gate! This spacious detached cottage combines authentic character with comfort and practicality. The first floor accommodation comprises: at one end of the house, the main double bedroom, and two single bedrooms all served by a large family bathroom. Along a short corridor there is a second double bedroom with its own ensuite shower room, wc and basin. The ground floor comprises spacious entrance hall, large cloakroom with wc and basin, sitting room with views over the Downs and open fireplace, dining area, and kitchen. From the dining area, doors lead onto the southfacing terrace (great for sunbathing and outdoor eating), and spacious gardens with arguably some of the best views in the county. (Please note the maximum occupancy is 6 guests, including children.) Guests have use of all the accommodation described above, including the garden. Garage, sheds and a couple of storage rooms in the house are not accessible. Located in a tiny hamlet a couple of miles from Ditchling, the cottage is ideal for short breaks and longer stays, for couples and families. This is exactly where Rowland Emett built his famous flying car 'ChittyChittyBangBang' (in the old forge next door), and where Raymond Briggs envisaged his 'Snowman' flights. Footpaths and cycle tracks lead in all directions right from the cottage gate, and there is easy walking to the South Downs Way. A number of charming foodie pubs are within 30 mins walk. This area is at the heart of Sussex wine country, and local vineyards offer a number of winery/vineyard tours. Lewes and Brighton are both within 30 mins drive. For younger visitors, there is much to do too, and details of local activities are at the cottage. Whilst a car is recommended, the cottage can be accessed very easily by train. Our local branch station is 20 mins walk along a stony track. Hourly trains to Gatwick (20 mins), London (55mins), Lewes (15 mins) and Eastbourne. There is parking for 2 cars at the cottage. Full directions and details of how to get to the cottage are emailed to you upon booking. Strictly no smoking throughout the house. No groups other than family groups.
