Paddock Cottage, Shatton Hall
Beautiful cottage set in mature gardens and surrounded by peaceful open countryside with magnificent views of Shatton moor and Hope valley. A walker's paradise or a businessman's bolt hole. It is ideal for people who love the country. Dogs allowed. Paddock Cottage car park is just before entering the farmyard, this leads to an east facing terrace and front door, with lovely views across the valley. A well behaved dog is acceptable here if pre-arranged. The living room, with a wood stove, has only three steps up to the double bedroom and re-furbished bathroom with over bath shower. The twin room is off the tiled entrance hall. Electric CH. This is a cosy winter retreat. Guests have access to their own private garden and also use of the tennis court. We are generally friendly people who enjoy company and hope to offer a warm welcome to guests. We would hope to be at home and available to answer questions and give information about the local area and walking possibilities. We can provide bread, butter, eggs and tea and coffee for a first morning's breakfast by arrangement, so guests will not have to rush out and buy something but otherwise are not offering breakfast or meals. Where possible we would be happy to collect from the station on the first evening when guests are arriving on public transport. We are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Peak District. The area is ideal for walking and there are many well signposted footpaths of varying lengths in the Valley. Other outdoor activities such as cycling and hang gliding are also available locally and there is an outdoor swimming pool at Hathersage. The area is rich in history, with numerous caverns in Castleton, the Plague Village of Eyam and the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon nearby. The cities of Sheffield and Manchester are both within reach by car or public transport and offer cinema, theatre, concerts and museums. The smaller market town of Bakewell is also nearby. Our home has good public transport connections. We live near to Hope station, from where there are trains to Sheffield and Manchester during the day, less frequent in the evening. There is also an hourly bus service to Sheffield which links to Castleton. There are a number of nice pubs in nearby Hathersage and Hope that serve lovely homemade food. Sorry, Paddock cottage does not have wifi but you can pick up a strong 4G signal on a mobile device.
