A mere breath away from Athens lies the seductive island of Kea where this comfortable house is located. Set in an elevated position, overlooking the bay of Vourkari it enjoys sea views and directly faces the sunset. A comfortable island home with all the modern concessions. The house faces the sunset and on any given summer night the bay is filled with visiting boats, their little lights sparkling on the still bay of Vourkari making it one of the most picturesque island sights. The house is laid out on 3 levels with outside space on all levels. The ground level incorporates the sitting room and open plan kitchen, double doors leading to a balcony with a dining table and a sitting area and another set of double doors leading to the pool, dining table for 10, bbq and large cushioned sitting area. The upper level comprises of one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a large private balcony. The lower level houses the master bedroom with its own dressing room adjacent to the en suite bathroom and a further 2 bedrooms and a bathroom are also located downstairs. All 3 lower level bedrooms have French windows allowing access to the lower garden area where a trampoline is located near by. The location of the house is ideal for those who are looking for a relaxed stay with the choice of enjoying restaurants, bars and shopping, all near by. Access to Kea is a 30' drive for the Athens airport to the port of Lavrio followed by an hour's ferry ride. Vourkari is situated 3 kms away. Guests have as much interaction with the host as needed. A housekeeper is located on the island which can be contacted at any time. Less well known until a few years ago, Kea is gaining popularity rapidly. Tzia as it is called by the Greeks, is a sleepy little gem of 3,000 inhabitants filled with ancient ruins, chapels, coves, tavernas and quaint harbours. This easily accessible paradise is a preferred destination for all kinds of enthusiasts, sun lounge lovers, food and wine explorers, beach seekers as well as diving enthusiasts. In Kea's crystal blue waters, just outside its main port, lies the wreck of the Britannic, sister ship of the Titanic. The main port Korissia has a variety of fun spots, shops and restaurants and is closed to cars at night so adults can stroll by the water with their children biking or skateboarding without danger. Vourkari is the marina of the island, smaller and more exclusive, it is just one row of shops and tavernas that face the moored yachts, a very picturesque meeting place for every hour of the day and night. Kea is also home to a variety of hiking trails, oak tree forests and secluded beaches. The capital Ioulida, is not on the coast - a precaution against marauding pirates in less lawful times. Situated in a natural amphitheatre in the mountains, Ioulida is a vertical town of stegadi buildings which seems to have grown organically into and out of each other. Narrow alleyways run though residents' homes as the contours take them. Some of the island's best local cuisine can be found on the main square of the 'hora' and its hidden alleys. A car or motorbike is recommended, there is parking outside the house. There is a pedestrian dirt track that goes from the house down to the village of Vourkari where all the tavernas, shops and mini market are located. The house is only available for rental April-September. A boat can be hired and kept in the marina below the house (Phone number hidden by Airbnb)
