Maple Cottage, Chipping Norton - Central Location
For a perfect staycation, this hidden gem is in the heart of the charming Cotswolds market town of Chipping Norton. This is a newly refurbished country cottage built in the 1840s with an open fireplace and wood burner. Several pubs serving excellent food and real ales all within a 5 minute walk. Following a recent sympathetic refurbishment, the cottage boasts historic charm combined with country chic. Maple Cottage comprises a new kitchenette/living/dining area/2 bedrooms and family bathroom. The cottage is packed full of character features such as original beams and wood burner, with a relaxed, cosy country atmosphere. Upon entry to Maple Cottage, you will find yourself in the open plan lounge, with new kitchenette housing an electric hob, oven, fridge and fully equipped kitchen. There are two sofas around the wood burner (logs provided) and a TV with DVD/Freeview and chromecast. To the right of the kitchen is a table with 4 chairs for dining – 2 foldable chairs can be found in the utility for extra persons. The utility room comprises a microwave, new washing machine & dryer, and a dishwasher. On the first floor there is a twin bedroom with two single beds complete with reading lights, and a family bathroom with bath, electric shower, and shaver point. On the second floor you is a large second bedroom with king size bed and TV with DVD/Freeview. A travel cot is also available for babies. The property boasts a small courtyard at the rear of the cottage, with a patio table and 4 chairs. With sun throughout the day it’s ideal for lazy afternoons and evenings. Free WiFi is available throughout the cottage. (Note that one of the sofas in the lounge converts to a sofa bed, allowing for 5th person *additional fee if you require sofa bed bedding*) The entire house is yours for the duration of your stay. The cottage is located in a quiet “mews” just off New Street, the road that links this beautiful market town to many other villages. Known as the gateway to the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is a traditional market town with many excellent country pubs – Chequers, Blue Boar, The Fox, and Bitter & Twisted to name but few. All of these establishments can be just off the high street and a short 5 minute walk from the cottage. There are a couple of grocery stores as well as a home bakery just off the main square. All are conveniently located for every day essentials. If you fancy a quiet night in without having to cook, why not try one of the take away establishments in the town. We are really spoilt for choice here. There is a large gated park situated at the bottom of New Street; only a short stroll for kids to enjoy the swings and slides etc. It's ideally located to explore the immediate area. Blenheim Palace is only 10 miles away, with Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold all within a 10-15 minute drive. Cheltenham is also easily doable. There are many stunning walks through the countryside. An easy circular walk passing from Chipping Norton to Over Norton and back 2.5 miles (4km), as well as a 6.5 mile (10km) walk across gently undulating countryside from Chipping Norton to the villages of Salford and Cornwell and back. Please let us know and we will provide you with a downloadable map. There is on road parking opposite the cottage and along the lane where it's located. Alternatively, 2 minutes away there is a free long stay Car Park located just off New Street. This is well sign posted and cannot be missed. It is provided by Oxfordshire Council and is free. The cottage is a 10 minute drive from Kingham, Charlbury (c. 6 miles) and Ascott-under-Wychwood stations with trains to Oxford and London. Soho house (Farm house) is 7 miles away by car. We are taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations due to coronavirus. Check in is from 4pm and Check out is 10am, however, let me know if you require an earlier or later check-in/out, and I'll do my best to accommodate - other bookings dependent. Please refrain from smoking, vaping, and lighting candles inside the property. **Note there are wooden stairs to the first floor so may not be suited for those less able bodied**
