Kasbah-garden B&B, desert & flowers

Half-kasbah, half-riad, built in a desertic environnement, with an astonishing green and attractive garden. The house is built around a patio with plants and fountain, 2 large rooms with double bed & single bed, & private bathroom offer guests, up to 6, comfort and calm. Traditional or vegetarian cuisine. Apart from the 2 rooms, my guests can enjoy the whole of the house and the garden, pergola, TV room, roof-terrace, patio. even kitchen . They can make themselves at home, use the mountain-bikes, the Wi-Fi, be served all sorts of drinks and home-made little treats. Kasbah Tikwit is outside Tinghir, on the Todra Gorge road, 3 km from the centre. There is a stunning view-point nearby, called "Panorama", where everybody stops, soon after you will find the green sign "Kasbah Tikwit" to your left, inviting you to take the little piste, which will lead you to the green gate of Kasbah Tikwit, its trees and its magic. I will be in the garden already waiting for you, and greeting you. Take the time to discover the place, take possession of your room, and you will be invited to cool drinks or herb tea in the pergola, or by the little pond, or in the patio or on the roof depending on the time of day and temperature. We'll be sitting together, talking if you like, of your day, your main impressions, discoveries, anecdotes, projects, surprises, and I will have pleasure to hear you, and deliver my little experience, tell you about the charm of the place, the kindness of the locals, the rare hospitality of modest people. And the talk will be interrupted because I have to go to the kitchen. But over dinner, later on, over breakfast the day after, we can resume the endless conversation which will bring us closer, sharing the same curiosity of the world, and interest in humanity. Kasbah Tikwit stands in a village, "douar" in Arabic. Built along the oasis at the end of the XIXth century by three brothers, their descendants also built mud-houses, but the followers started to enjoy modern life, concrete houses, the proximity to the road... So, Ichamrirn keeps track of the 3 brothers founders : everybody in the village is related to everybody. The oasis is very important in their lives, the management of land and water is something strong and requires an authority , and the old houses are melting down, replaced by new ones.There are 2 oases, on either sides of the village and both are worth a walk, one is the large Todra Oasis, cultivated and well organized, the other next to Kasbah Tikwit is a small one, occasionnaly watered by canals, under the chief's authority. It's more like a big garden, well, a little jungle, not that cultivated, full of trees and joyous birds. It's so nice to walk along this oasis up to Tinghir ! You will get to this part of Morocco most of the time by plane, landing at Marrakech or Ouarzazate airport. Then grand-taxis (the cheapest), buses (also quite cheap) or a rented car are the solution to continue your journey, towards Tinghir. We can pick you up in town when you get off the bus or the taxi. If you drive, your car will be invited to stay in the garden, under the vine, a safe and secure and cool parking place. There are mountain-bikes available at Kasbah Tikwit, for a ride around, you will at the same time enjoy the exercise and the discovery. I am always happy to take my visitors to my favourite spots, a little hidden corner by the river for a pic-nic, a charming restored mosque in the oasis, a walk in the surrounding desert ending in a little paradise : a secret valley full of sweet-smelling fig-trees under which the stop is mere happiness.
