Beautifully Historic Manor House - The East Wing

Set in the heart of White Cliffs Country in the picturesque hamlet of Westcliffe, just 5 minutes drive from the beautiful beach at St Margaret's Bay. 10 minutes from Dover. This is a perfect place for a family or group of friends. The old manor has a long history and has been home to Queen Eleanor of Castille and William Pitt the Younger. It has been restored and opened in 2020 for AirBnB guests with 3 bedrooms, ‘Great Hall’ living space and cellar kitchen and refectory style dining space. This place is the East Wing of a recently refurbished ancient Jaobean manor house with three ensuite bedrooms and Great Hall downstairs with lounge and dining space and a huge Inglenook fireplace. There is also a lovely old kitchen in the cellar below the dining room. The Great Hall Enter into the ancient hall with an upright Steinway grand piano, then on into the main living area with carved beam ceilings, centuries-old oak floors, wood-burning stove and antique sofas. Sit around a glorious oak table and look out of the Georgian shuttered windows to the beautifully tended gardens. The Bedrooms There are three four-poster bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms. Each one has beamed ceilings and a Jacobean fireplace. Kitchen In the nearly thousand year old cellars is an old country house kitchen that has been recently refurbished with tabletop oven, twin hob, sink, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and Tassimo coffee machine (we provide coffee pods for this). The cellar kitchen has a games room next door with table tennis table with walls carved out of the chalk blocks on which the Manor House sits. Gardens There are landscaped gardens and a terrace for relaxing, there is a barbecue and seating for lazy summer days. There is also an all-weather tennis court, boules court and croquet lawn for AirBnB guests use. Pantry On the first floor is a small pantry kitchen with kettle and tea making facilities. It's just a mile from the clifftops and beach at St. Margaret's Bay, so it's a perfect base for exploring the Kent Downs. Guests have access to the front and back terrace as well as gardens and free use of our tennis court, boule and croquet lawn. There's plenty of free parking in a large car park too. We're not onsite here, my elderly parents live in the West Wing of the house but we're just a mile down the road so if there's anything that you need, we're always around to offer assistance. Our location in an idylic country setting around a mile from the beautiful beach at St. Margaret's Bay belies the fact that the place is only five or ten minutes drive from the port and Cruise Terminal at Dover and around 75 minutes from the centre of London. A perfect place for an escape for a relaxing break in Kent. There's a bus stop right outside that connects you to Dover, Deal, Sandwich and Canterbury on the number 80 bus. The train station at Martin Mill is a couple of miles away. Kitchen NEW FOR 2020 Due to popular demand and feedback from our guests in 2019 we've refurbished the kitchen in the cellar and made it available to guests. It's not a modern kitchen but has all the necessary kit that you'll need to cater for you and your friends and family. Please see the detail for what this kitchen includes. There is also still the pantry on the first floor that was the only kitchen available in 2019. The pantry kitchen has a kettle and tea making facilities. There is a tabletop oven in the downstairs cellar kitchen, suitable for most basic cooking just please don't plan to cook anything too elaborate here!
