The quant old skipper village dates back to the early 1700´s and many of it´s building are well restored and unspoiled. A nature trail from the house leads 200 meters to the charming town center where one finds, a well-stocked supermarket, bakery, art museum, restaurants and the old inn, Sønderho Kro. Kåvervej, where the house is situated on the corner, leads you down to the newly constructed "Kåver", a landmark rebuilt at the top of the dunes surrounding the town. It marks the target of a evening and morning stroll all year round overlooking the Wadden Sea with the next islets and Ribe to the east and south and the North Sea to the west. At the foot of “Kåveren” is the old school, that now houses the kindergarden of Sønderho. Behind the building is the city's public playground. The villa beside the house is a residency offered to musicians and composers which is administrated by the Danish Musicians’ Union. There also are residences for artist´s and writers in the village.
