Wonderful Pennine Home in Magnificent Location
Beautiful, spacious fully modernised farmhouse in stunning moorland setting. Perfect for families and groups large or small. Luxurious sitting room with woodburner and light filled south west facing conservatory for stunning sunsets and starry nights. Large enclosed gardens with a range of seating areas, fire pit and BBQ. Wonderful walking, mountain biking and wild swimming straight from the door. We welcome well behaved dogs ! Quirky, cafe filled Hebden Bridge, a five minute drive. The house is in Crimsworth Dean ,just above Hardcastle Crags. It is an area rich in literary heritage and you can almost reach out an touch the (alleged) Wuthering Heights farmhouse from our garden. The curlews call all summer, and you will see barn owls, woodpeckers, buzzards and deer, and the garden is full of song birds. You can walk to Hardcastle Crags, where there are stepping stones, and rocks and caves to explore. There are rivers to splash and swim in, including several idyllic and child friendly swimming holes just a mile from the house. As well as outdoor activities we have Haworth, with the Bronte Parsonage, myriad antiquarian bookshops and the world's best cake shop in one direction (you can walk and get the bus back) and Hebden Bridge, voted 'fourth funkiest place on the planet' by British Airways, in the other. The Hepwoth and Yorkshire Sculpture Park are an hour by car. Saltaire and the Piece Hall, both about 25 minutes away, are UNESCO world heritage sites. Leeds and Manchester are 50 and 40 minutes away by train. Lots of wet weather diversions for children, including Eureka and the Worth Valley Railway ( used for the Railway Children!). This is our much loved family home, which we are now offering as an Air BNB as I am working abroad. We have lots of toys and books for wet weather( to be used with Covid precautions in mind this year). In addition to five comfortable bedrooms, two with en suites there is a study with a piano and a room with a full size table tennis table ( unheated and very cold in winter.) new table and sofas on the way but not shown in photos. We welcome families, families holidaying together and groups of friends and we would like people to enjoy staying in it as much as we love living in it. I live abroad and the property is managed locally by a good friend who is always available when the property is let. She does not manage any other properties. This is a really beautiful moorland location, but you can walk down from the house to bluebell filled woods in 5 minutes, and walk along the beck to various swimming holes, and along to Hardcastle Crags. Road biking, mountain biking, fell running and walking are all at your feet.....If you feel the need to venture further afield the Yorkshire Dales are on the doorstep. Hebden Bridge has the feel of an arty city village, with coffee shops, bars, an independent cinema and The Trades Club which hosts a range of musicians including Andy Sheppard and Patti Smith. There are lots of craft brewers and a local farmer's market. Sylvia Plath is buried in Heptonstall Churchyard, and you can see the church tower just over the other side of the valley. Ted Hughes was born here and Simon Armitage's ( beautiful) stanza stones are scattered round about. The house is down a short lane, accessible by all cars, - though perhaps not very low slung sports cars! There is a bus stop just at the top of the lane, with about three buses an hour into Hebden Bridge, which is two miles away. If you are here in winter and it snows it would be wise to leave your car on the top road which is always gritted. Hebden Bridge train station is very well served by trains to Leeds, Manchester and York and there is a fast train from Halifax ( 7 miles away) to London with Grand Central Trains. Leeds and Manchester Airport are both about an hours drive.
