The splendidly refurbished Wren Cottage is in a quiet lane in the heart of beautiful Mears Ashby and is exclusively yours for your stay. It’s a little home from home. Visit the village's award winning pub and Beckworth Emporium then walk off the calories round Sywell Reservoir. Discover our best kept secret which is Northamptonshire - 'the county of squires and spires'. An Ideal base for working locally: hotels can be too impersonal. Nearest rail-station, Wellingborough. Host lives next door. Calm, clean, cosy and easily liveable space which has been tastefully refurbished only recently. Wren Cottage a compact and bijou with a pretty, private courtyard garden Free wifi. Working space/desk. TV in lounge and in the double bedroom. House and garden are no smoking spaces. We welcome well trained dogs. The property has a rear entrance and utility room for muddy walkers and mutts to use. There is no off the road parking. The property is in a quiet lane where limited by usually adequate parking is available for one guest vehicle. Guests have exclusive access to the entire 2 bedroomed cottage and private garden. There is free wi-fi. Please note that although the property is easy to access, the stairs to the first floor (bedrooms and bathroom) are steep. The front door of the property opens onto the lane. The host would recommend caution to anyone booking with young children. Laundry services (additional cost), assistance and local knowledge available from your host who lives next door. Please agree your arrival and departure times with your host, especially if they are early or late - she is very accommodating! “ My preferred type of guests are those who are willing to communicate readily and responsively as required. These are standards I also set for myself as their host.” Don’t miss this sweet little cottage in the heart of one of Northamptonshire’s most sought after yet unpretentious villages. Great village Pub (Griffin's Head) 5 mins walk. Many interesting landmarks within 45 mins drive: Pitsford Reservoir (sailing and fishing), Althorp House, Bletchley Park, Stamford and Burghley House and more... Our nearest shop is Beckworth Emporium which is well worth a visit (sells yummy food and gifts). Many other nice food emporiums nearby too. Indian, Chinese, pizza takeaways /delivery in Earls Barton. Co-op supermarket and Chemist in Earls Barton (2.9 miles). Sainsburys on the ouskirts of Wellingborough (4.2 miles). Fuel available there. Walk from Wren Cottage and around Sywell Reservoir and back, approx. 1.5 hours. Or walk across the fields to Sywell and have lunch at the quirky Art Deco Aviator Hotel and watch the Spitfires in action. By the way, the last witch in England was drowned in Mears Ashby. Luckily she survived.....and finally...... Don’t home without a pair of world famous shoes at discount prices from the Church’s Factory shop in nearby Earls Barton!! They will last you a lifetime. Just like the memories of your visit here. No buses stop in Mears Ashby. Nearest railway is at Wellingborough Station 5.6 miles away (15 mins drive). There are some personal effects in the cupboards/drawers/wardrobes but there is also empty space in wardrobes, drawers and kitchen cupboards for guests to use. Please recycle rubbish (in plastic bin in the cupboard to the right of the oven. Please DO NOT light a fire in the grate as the chimney has not been swept. Please DO NOT flush anything down the toilets other than toilet paper. The Victorian sewer blocks easily! Well trained pets welcomed. Please do find time to walk through the village if you can, especially around the church. It really is lovely. The village pub is worth a visit too DO relax and enjoy your stay,
