M&N Lodge, Western Carolina Mountain Cabin
Located just south of the charming town of Franklin, NC the private community of Tessentee Woods is a world away from the hustle & stress of the city, yet conveniently close (1 hr from Asheville; 2 hrs from Atlanta) & minutes from hiking, rafting, gem-mining, horseback riding & other outdoor adventures! The M&N Lodge is well appointed to make your stay comfortable, especially for those days you choose to just ‘stay in’ to enjoy the sweet harmony of chirping birds and the gorgeous mountain views. The M&N Lodge is a 4 bedroom (2 on upper level, 2 on lower level) cabin the Otto Community, just south of Franklin, NC and north of Dillard, GA. The cabin is well equipped for leisure activities such as reading, bird watching, game night, or just rocking on one of the porches taking in the views. It can also be your 'base camp' for access to rafting, hiking, and other outdoor activities in the area. Please note: This home is not pet friendly. No pets of any kind. The main level is set up with open living, kitchen and dining areas that look out to gorgeous mountain views, as well as two porches with outdoor seating and dining. Start your day with coffee on the porch, then later gather for happy hour and enjoy your meals in the great outdoors. There are two bedrooms on the main (upper) level and two bathrooms. Bedroom 2 has an en suite bathroom and the other bathroom is steps away from bedroom 1. There is also a fully equipped laundry room on the main level. Both bedrooms have queen beds, as well as a recliner for reading and taking in the beautiful views. If your party is larger than four guests, we have a lower level with a sitting area, dining/game table, and kitchenette area. The lower level bedrooms share a bathroom accessed between the rooms. These lower bedrooms are great for the young or young-at-heart! Bedroom 3 has two twin beds and there is a queen bed in bedroom 4. Nestled right in the middle, between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest, is the quaint mountain town of Franklin. Enjoy the leisurely pace with a stroll down Franklin’s Main Street to shop for handmade items, books, or antiques, as well as other specialty stores. Or you can tour the galleries and artistic communities of nearby Sylva, Dillsboro and Highlands. These towns boast charm and character that draws both locals and tourists alike. Also nearby are local craft breweries and wineries, as well as hiking trails, waterwalls, rafting and ziplining adventures! Franklin is situated along major highways US 23/441 and US 64, with easy access to major interstates I-40, I-26 and I-85. Atlanta is just 125 miles to the south, Knoxville 110 miles to the north and Asheville is 65 miles to the east. M&N Lodge is located on the south side of Franklin off US 441 giving you perfect access to not only Franklin, but Dillard and Clayton, Georgia. In addition to hiking and rafting adventures, North Georgia is home to several vineyards and wineries who are open for tastings, one only 20 minutes away. Head north on US 441 to access Dillsboro, Sylva, Cherokee, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and Bryson City. To the east, Highlands, NC is accessible via two scenic highways and from there you can cruise on past Whiteside Mountain and on to Cashiers, NC. Downtown Franklin - a certified Appalachian Trail Community - is about 20 minutes away and boasts two local breweries, a wide selection of restaurants and specialty shops. There are other restaurants, a movie theater and large grocery store, within 10-15 minutes. As mentioned, you can hike parts of the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail, as well as many other nearby trails. For the working folks (and those who like to stay connected) we have Internet with Wi-Fi and satellite TV so you won’t miss a beat. Although we hope you’ll just relax, unplug, and enjoy the wonderful mountain air, birds and fabulous views!
