Intimate guesthouse on historical estate VREDEWOUD

In the historic centre of Oldeberkoop, you can find the national monument 'villa Vredewoud'. Situated in a park garden of 10.000 square foot. The, in 2017, renovated guesthouse of villa Vredewoud is a warm and welcoming accomodation for a comfortable stay in and around this picturesque village, surrounded by the national park the 'Friese Wouden' with many walking and cycling routes. Our carriage house with miniature Fallabella horses is definitely worth a visit. It's not very big, but it is equipped with all comforts needed for a pleasant stay. The guesthouse is heated by floor-heating in combination with a lovely wood-burning stove. The accomodation is equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, including a combi-oven, dishwasher, the opportunity to make coffee/tea and a basic supply of herbs. Wi-Fi and a Smart-TV, a bathroom with a toilet and shower with towels supplied. The guesthouse has a comfortable, electric adjustable, double bed with bed linen. The loft is equipped with 2 mattresses with bed linen for the possibility of accomodating 2 children. From the seating area the french doors open up onto a spacious porch which is bright and sunny , an oasis of tranquility and nature, and yet situated right in the village centre. We welcome our guests in a detached guesthouse at an unique location, which is defined as maybe the most beautiful national monument of South-East Friesland. We ask our guests to respect our privacy and therefore the main villa is not accessible to guests. In and around our carriage house you can meet our friendly miniature Fallabella horses, which can be visited during the day, but during the evening they are allowed to enjoy their well deserved rest. We always try to welcome our guests personally and show them around the accomodation. Oldeberkoop is a historic village which was mentioned in 1228, when the Frisian warriors gathered here, then named 'Brokope', before travelling to the province Drenthe. This historic village arrised 900 years ago on the sand ridges between the rivers the 'Linde' and the 'Tjonger'. Villa Vredewoud is located in the village centre surrounded by century-old monuments. Nature *Delleboersterheide, at about 3 kilometres distance. An 195 acre nature reserve, where you can wander around and enjoy the scenery. *The Koepelbosch, Molenbosch, Sterrenbos and the Stuttebosch are all within walking distance from our guesthouse. Art and culture *The art route 'Open Stal' which takes part in Oldeberkoop every year for the duration of 4 weeks in July and August. *Muziek op Stapel in the 'Bonifatius; church in Oldeberkoop. Keep track of the agenda for the upcoming events. *Frisian season market (so called streekmarkt) with biological products from the local farmers. Every first Saturday of the month from May untill October. Recreation *Fantastic cycle routes are available starting at 20 kilometres up to 38 kilometres. *Swimming in idyllic lakes. The routes are also available. *Ice-skating. Where else would be the perfect location for ice-skating than in the re-newed 'Thialf' stadium in Heerenveen. *Or maybe you would like to rent a electric 'farmer' scooter at a nearby farm and discover this beautiful area in a noiseless way. Oldeberkoop has direct connections by public transport (bus) to Oosterwolde, Heerenveen, Wolvega and Noordwolde. Heerenveen and Wolvega are both provided with a train station.
