Cobham (1.5 miles) is a charming small town with a good variety of shops, supermarkets and businesses as well as pubs and restaurants. Grange Park Opera at West Horsley Place is 15 minutes away, RHS Wisley and several National Trust properties are close by, as are Brooklands Motor and Aviation museum, Hampton Court Palace, Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park. For cyclists, it’s worth noting that we are on the Surrey Cycle Way with Box Hill in easy distance, and for walking/running, there are the 800 acres of Chatley Heath (with its semaphore tower) and Ockham Common on the doorstep. We have three kayaks that are available for guests to use. My husband David and I have four boys (aged between 16 and 24) and a very friendly dog so our rural location, combined with our proximity to local amenities and transport links is ideal. We keep bees and chickens, grow veg and make a lot of jam and chutney - the fruits of these labours are available for our guests. We can interfere as much or as little as you like. The lodge is booked on a self-catered basis and a generous welcome pack is provided for all bookings including kitchen basics and toiletries. Your welcome pack includes milk, eggs, bread, butter, ham, cheese, fruit juice, fresh fruit, biscuits, muesli, home-made jams and chutneys and all the day to day essentials such as teas, coffee, oil, salt & pepper, washing up liquid and cleaning products. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine are also provided. Two nights minimum stay, although regular and longer term bookings can be discussed with us. We are lucky to be surrounded by lovely woodlands and countryside, tucked away on a bend on the river. It is a truly rural spot, although not far from anything. The A3 and M25 are 5 minutes away so road access in all directions is quick and simple. Nearest stations are Effingham Junction and Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon with trains to London/Guildford every half hour. A car is ideal and there is plenty of parking next to the lodge. Local taxi firms are excellent too and we also have Uber around here if you don't have a car. And being on the Surrey Cycle route, you'll never be lonely on your bike! Directions to find us: If using Satnav you should have no problem finding us with the postcode KT11 1PQ. The full address is Woodlands, Pointers Road, Cobham. Once on Pointers Road, pass a white house on your right (Ty Bryn), then take the second drive way. There is a green sign on the fencing with names of four houses in white writing. Woodlands is the fourth house right at the end of the drive. Follow the drive all the way round until you can go no further. Our house is white. The lodge is tucked behind the garage and parking is in front of the little green shed at the bottom of the hill next to the lodge. Get out, stretch your legs and admire the view across the Painshill flood plain! We look forward to welcoming you. IMPORTANT: During the COVID-19 crisis we are continuing to host in line with government conditions, on the understanding that my family and prospective guests are symptom free and are complying with the current government guidelines. We are doing everything we can to make sure we are protecting ourselves and our guests. By necessity we are cleaning and disinfecting all hard surfaces - especially things like light switches, door & cupboard handles, remote controls etc. Where at all possible we will maintain a minimum 24 hour period between bookings so the lodge can be well ventilated too. We ask that all guests behave responsibly at this time.
