Considered a gateway to the South Downs, this cosy country home is set perfectly between the North and South of our beautiful national park on the edge of the quintessential countryside village of Fernhurst. Almost every window offers a view across the lush green Sussex countryside and the garden itself leads directly onto the rolling hills of the South Downs. Fernhurst village is easy to walk to and has a few shops, post office and a two local pubs. The Orchard is the perfect place for a group of friends, all the family or simply a romantic retreat for two. Carefully designed this tranquil getaway provides easy access for those with disabilities or movement restrictions with widened doorways, a ground floor twin bedroom and good sized ground floor wet room style bathroom. The large beautifully designed living area is an excellent space to open up the doors to the garden and enjoy the cool summer breeze or snuggle up on a chilly autumn night. There is a large television with DVD and Youview box and free Wi-Fi is available. The kitchen / dining area couldn't be better for entertaining. The high ceilings and large room leave plenty of room to manoeuvre and the tall and wide sliding glass doors open up directly onto the garden patio for summer dining. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to self-cater during your stay with coffee machine (Nespresso), dishwasher, cooker, large fridge, freezer, toaster, oven with five ring hob, washing machine and tumble dryer. please note there is not a microwave at The Orchard In total there are three bedrooms, one ground floor twin room, one first floor double bedroom with en suite and one twin first floor bedroom. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with shower over the bath so every bedroom can have its own bathroom if required. The wide gated driveway running alongside has plenty of room for three cars or more. Midhurst just a five minute drive South is the nearest large town nearby. In recent years Midhurst was voted the most desirable place to live in the whole of the U.K. - some accolade! It is a quintessential English town, with period properties from a variety of eras lining the main streets and a collection of eclectic shops and restaurants making it even more appealing. Much of the town is still owned by the famous Cowdray Estate which hosts the polo season attracting visitors from all over the world. The famous Cowdray Ruins lie on the northern outskirts of the town and are within view from the gardens which are carefully landscaped and have several different spots to sit in. They consist of lawned areas interspersed with pretty flower borders and are a blaze of colour in the summer. The South Downs surround the town and for keen walkers there are so many beautiful places to explore. The old market town of Petworth lies just to the east, with Petworth House being an interesting place to visit, along with Petworth Park. Goodwood lies just a few miles to the south and attracts visitors from all over the world to its famous motor sports events and horse racing events. Chichester lies about 11 miles south of Midhurst and has a world famous cathedral, which dominates the city. It also has the renowned Festival Theatre where some of the world's most famous actors perform. The south coast, with many picturesque beaches including West Wittering's sandy dunes, is about 6 miles of Chichester. Fernhurst is easily accessible by road and as you are on the Surrey / Sussex border Fernhurst makes for an excellent spot to commute up to London, the nearest train station is Haslmere where you can catch a direct line to London Victoria.
