Large home with big orchard close to Cambridge

Orchard House is perfect for a large or extended family with the unique offering of a private and secure orchard. The house offers spacious accommodation over 2 floors with a downstairs double bedroom with en-suite and easy access for guests who may require extra assistance. Just 5 miles from Cambridge, Haslingfield is a pretty village and our home is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. Our comfortable home includes exclusive use of an orchard which stretches to almost an acre. There are many fruit trees, including apple, pear, plum and damson which you can help yourself to during your stay. The garden has its own marked out badminton court, table tennis, croquet and giant Connect Four (may not be available during the winter months). Additionally there is a sunny patio area to the rear of the house that can be accessed from the lounge. Here you will find tables and chairs and wind-down sun canopies making it an ideal place for outdoor dining. The kitchen offers plenty of room for cooking and includes a fridge freezer, double oven and separate hob and full sized dishwasher. There is a small but extendable round table with chairs for informal dining or children's area which looks onto the more formal dining area with full size table and seating. This area flows into the lounge area where there is a TV and DVD player, small selection of DVDs and a well-stocked book case. The ground floor also has a utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, iron, ironing board and extra fridge and freezer. This area is large enough to accommodate your well behaved family dog but we do ask that they do not go on beds or furniture. There are many local dog walking areas in and around the village including a river walk, which we can give you details of. The ground floor bedroom has a double bed with en-suite shower room and toilet. There is also a small study area. Upstairs there are 3 more bedrooms all with their own TV. The first bedroom has a double bed and double sofa bed, the second one 2 singles and its own en-suite shower and toilet. The third, dormitory style has 4 single beds. There is a family bathroom with overhead shower. We can provide a cot but please bring your own bedding for this. All beds have duvets, pillows and bedlinen and ample towels. Laundered towels are provided. The house has free Wi-Fi. There is ample parking as the property has its own drive with room for at least 4 cars. We can provide self check-in with use of a keysafe. We allow a maximum of two well behaved dogs who are welcome in the downstairs of the house but NOT upstairs. You have exclusive access to the property and gardens. As numerous family members live nearby we can be contacted any time for emergencies on our dedicated mobile or through (Hidden by Airbnb) for daytime questions. We can provide digital information for local information. The village has its own public house with a great garden for children with play equipment and animals. Country Kitchen shop and deli is just 3 minutes walk through the churchyard and offers many local foods and cook at home meals. The Post Office also has a wide stock of fresh produce. The local playground and recreation area is a great place to visit and has 3 excellent tennis courts which can be booked and paid for online for a very reasonable price. The village is served by a mobile fish and chips van on a Saturday evening and there is a nearby Indian Restaurant who will deliver to the door. Cambridge is on your doorstep with the famous colleges, Kings College Chapel, Botanical gardens, Fitzwilliam Museum and punting on the Backs. We recommend the local park and ride service due to the high costs of parking in the city. Grantchester, infamous in its own right, is within cycling/walking distance for the more energetic and you can be rewarded by a visit to the Orchard Tearooms or Cambridge Gin Distillery. Duxford War Museum, Wimpole Hall and Farm (National Trust), Audley End House & Gardens (English Heritage) and Shepreth Wildlife Park are all close by. 5 minutes from the M11 and just 25 miles from Stansted Airport places the village in a great location. There are also several nearby train stations with direct lines to both Kings Cross and Liverpool Street Station in London.
