Art-Funk Cabin in the Woods is now 420-friendly!

We are dog-friendly, 420-friendly, eco-aware, lgbtq & vegan-friendly! - yoga/meditation space. - wood stove - downstairs bedroom has media hookups (bring ur DVDs/Chromecast etc) - screened-in back porch. Highlights include: wood-burning stove, cozy sleeping loft with a view of the woods and a meditation area beneath a skylight. Very comfortable built-in double bed. First floor has second bedroom (adjacent to living room) with double bed, large chifferobe, view of the back woods. Directly across from bright yellow bath (with tub). Hot shower has excellent water pressure. Tiny but fully-equipped eat-in kitchen. With small refrigerator and, full stove, cookware, dishes, etc. Screened in back porch faces woods. In front is small garden (strawberries, blueberries, young peach tree and mostly native flowers.) In addition (unless we have worked out some sort of week-day/last-minute discount), we provide all bed, bath and kitchen linens. And usually have shampoo and other random toiletries you are welcome to borrow. Small screen telly with a small yet impressive DVD collection. WiFi is reliable. We now have an actual freezer in the cabin along with small fridge. Constantly updating and improving! Washer/dryer in main house may be available (if we are home) but can't guarantee it. You have total privacy - whether or not we are on the property. If we are here and you want to meet Stella and Reagan, our big friendly noisy canine girls, just say so but be forewarned: Reagan (black and gray Portuguese water-dog) will jump up and lick you in the face. Stella (Golden Retriever) is more gentle, but she is a thief. Seriously, if you let her inside you might later discover ur missing a shoe or a even a loaf of bread. A cozy home base for apple, peach, and berry-pickers. Antique hunters. Downhill and XC skiers. In the summer the Granville Gorge is good for cooling off, and the Barkhamsted Reservoir has a "secret" public beach (Lake McDonough), popular with locals. Equine opportunities and at least two wilderness adventure (rock-climbing, kayak, canoeing) outfits are a short drive away. Shopping and cultural excursions include Northampton, Amherst and Great Barrington. Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow for music and dance all or = an hour away. For serious hikers the famous Tunxis trail is nearby, and for XC enthusiasts there is For downhill riding, skiing and tubing try nearby Otis (very old school resort with "vintage" lifts), billed as good for kids and beginners, but in truth it is also a great place for more experienced adults. Skilled boarders/skiers will appreciate the price (so inexpensive!) and all the space (no lines!) to do your own thing. Blandford is similar and also close by. More of a drive (and more famous) is Butternut in Great Barrington. Awesome tubing there and worth the drive. Granville Country Store makes fresh bread, cellar-aged cheddar cheese and carries locally sourced fruit pies, maple syrup, cheese. They also have basic grocery items. If coming from NYC or Boston, best to buy food there and bring it. Food around here (unless it is harvest time or summer fruit season) is not as good, in general, and costly. This is a very rural area. Granby has Stop'n Shop and Big Y, as does Westfield - about 20 min drives in opposite directions. More about hiking (from (website hidden)) Day trails in the Granville area start at the Granville State Forest, located less than four miles from town. The forest hosts a network of trails, the longest of which is a roughly four-mile dirt road bisecting the forest. Because most of the trails intersect, individual trails can be tied into much longer day hikes that loop back to the forest's central parking area. Roughly 20 miles west of town is a semi-circle of protected areas, including the Tolland and Sandisfield State Forests. Each of the state forests and parks in this area offers networks of day trails similar in size and flexibility to those at Granville. Long Distance Hikes The southern border of Granville State Forest also serves as the northern terminus of the Tunxis Trail, a major cross-country route in neighboring Connecticut. Directly across the state line from Granville State Forest is Connecticut's Tunxis State Forest ((website hidden)) and a 21-mile trail extending out of the forest, with an additional 58 miles branching off into the northwestern Connecticut countryside. The trail and its branches are marked by blue blazes; they are characterized by a mix of barely improved tracks with unpaved, abandoned road beds. How to get here: We are about 2 1/2 hours from both NYC and Boston. We are 25 minutes from Bradley International Airport in Hartford. Also try Amtrak, Peter Pan/Greyhound Express, or Metro North. In most cases driving (at least from the airport or train station is probably best), but in near future it may be possible to arrange to have a car pick you up. Check first! By simply walking out through the back yard, you can snow shoe or hike into the town forest, and you can walk to the Tunxis trail head just of the main road about a mile away.
