Beautiful Ditchling home, heart of the South Downs
Lovely Victorian house perfectly located in a picturesque village in the heart of the South Downs. Stunning open plan kitchen and dining room, and cosy living room with open fire. Award winning pub and great cafes a stone's throw away. Ideal base for country walks or bike rides in beautiful countryside. Fantastic views of the South Downs. Lovely garden, totally private and peaceful. Perfect bolthole to escape and relax. 5 minute drive to local station with direct trains to London and Brighton. The property is a beautiful period house, retaining all of the charm of a traditional rural home, but sensitively updated to create a place to escape and relax with family or friends. It's the perfect place for a break for 2/3 families, with plenty going on locally for day trips, and enough space for everyone to chill out. I say this because it's what I've been doing since I moved here from London 4 years ago. The property is priced for 12 people and includes the studio; if you don't need the studio, then get in touch and we can discuss a special offer. The house itself is very adaptable, depending on the size of your group; the main house sleeps 8 and comprises the following; - Master bedroom with double bed and beautiful views of the Downs. - 2nd double bedroom. - Loft room with 2 single beds and stunning views. - Very comfortable double sofa bed in the lounge. There is also a spacious studio at the bottom of the garden, which has 2 double sofa beds, electricity, heating, Wifi, flat screen tv and DVD player and a selection of DVDs and board games. The studio is completely secure and is lockable from both inside and outside; it also has a smoke alarm. My kids have had umpteen sleepovers here - they love it - so if you have children of the right age, this is a dream come true (for the kids and parents alike). I also have 2 single mattresses which can be used if required, bringing the number of people who can be accommodated to 14 - so long as 2 members of your party don't mind 'roughing it' a little (I don't charge for this). The open plan kitchen is the heart of the house, in every sense; cooking on the Aga, hanging out, and a lovely dining area with window seats looking out to the garden and big enough to accommodate your whole party. There's a glass roof and sliding patio doors which adds to the sense of space. The garden is completely private and all yours - there's a patio with table and chairs, bbq and a firepit. There's a great kids play-park a few minutes walk away; and the brilliant local pub, The Bull, has a lovely garden and does amazing wood-fired pizzas (and also has its own little play area for younger kids). The entire main house and garden (see above re arrangements for access to the garden studio). Ditchling is one of the most popular villages in the South Downs - for good reason - spectacular views, lovely characterful buildings and great places to eat. There's a free car park at Ditchling Village Hall, a 1 minute walk from the house. I am a single father to two teenage daughters, and the property is our family home; so while I will ensure the place feels like 'your' space for the duration of your stay, and will create plenty of room for you and your family and friends to feel comfortable - there will be traces of us dotted around; pictures on walls, books, ornaments. If you are uncomfortable with this, then I completely understand - however I know I always prefer staying in places that are proper homes, rather than businesses.
