Townhead Cottage in the Peak District
We have made a new lounge area and refurbished the downstairs room for our guests. There are now 3 beautiful rooms with ensuite facilities. One of the rooms can be made up as either a twin or king size bed. There are 2 great pubs within walking distance and lots to do with walking paths, wonderful cycling along the trails and visits to local attractions of Cromford Mills, Heights of Abraham, Gullivers Kingdom, Tramway Museum, and magnificent houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Kedleston. The Peak District is a fabulous place to meet up with friends or family. There is lots to keep you occupied no matter what your interests with museums and great houses to visit. The picturesque market towns of Bakewell, Wirksworth, Leek and of course Matlock all within easy reach. Plus elegant Buxton with the soon to be opened Spa and famous Opera House. The walking is legendary with a mass of routes that use the old miners tracks. Our cycling is great - if you don't want to tackle the hills then you can head for the trails along disused railway lines. Derbyshire also has a history of Well dressing throughout the summer and wonderful gardens open to view. The cottage is separate from the rest of the house and guests have access to lounge with log burner and TV, dining area/kitchen, hall, 3 bedrooms, and patio plus garden. There is a field at the rear of the property that is good for dogs. We are generally a bed and breakfast but rent out the cottage end of our home. We are often away but may sometimes be here in our adjoining house. If we are here we appreciate that you want a home from home and so will endeavour to give you space to relax. Bonsall is a lovely village with 2 good pubs, both dog friendly and serving food. they both often have music at the weekends. There is also a cafe and a small shop. Our 'Cafe in the Church' is proving very popular with visitors at weekends and Mondays There are lots of walks from the house and we are very close to Peak District attractions. We have a number of leaflets in the house for you to look at. The Peak District is compact and accessible with everything just a short drive (or walk) away. There is a bus service every 2 hours from Matlock or Cromford. There is also a great bus service along the A6 which can be used effectively to link up longer walks.
