Cabin on Historic Dog Mushing Property
This welcoming cabin is situated on the property of historic Trail Breaker Kennel. Trail Breaker is the home of four time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher and her legendary sled dogs. The kennel is still home to 70 actively-racing Alaskan Huskies, many whom are veterans of the Iditarod. There is a small lake on the property, about 100 feet from the cabin. Outside the back door, a woodland trail leads to lovely walks alongside the Chena and Tanana rivers. Just over one mile from the post office and airport, and three miles from restaurants and tourist sites, this cabin is accessible while still being a secluded get-away in the interior of Alaska. The cabin has large windows facing North, which are designed for viewing the northern lights from the comfort of indoors. There is a deck on the northern side, as well. The kitchen is stocked: all utensils, dish ware, bakeware, food storage, coffee pot, full-size refrigerator and oven. The living area has a flat screen TV and cozy seating areas. The main bedroom offers a queen size bed and seating area. The secondary bedroom has a full size bed. The bathroom includes a towel heater for extra comfort.
