Cooper Cottage - Old Leigh Fishing Cottage

Our traditional fisherman's cottage is situated in the heart of Leigh-on-Sea, officially named as the happiest place in the UK to live for the second time. The cottage is spread over three floors. You enter the property into a cosy lounge, perfect for relaxation. This leads onto the dining area and the fully equipped kitchen which has access to the courtyard. The bathroom with bath, shower and WC is situated just past the kitchen. The first floor has a lovely bright lounge with a sofa bed, smart TV, comfy armchairs and has the all important view of the estuary from the balcony - it's priceless! Hours can be spent there watching the cockle boats come in, the tide change and of course the Brent geese. On the second floor there is a twin bedroom with a TV and once again, amazing views. We live nearby so are available if necessary. We can be contaced by text or a phonecall. Local Area Old Leigh is 30 miles East of London and is well known for it's thriving fishing community. This picturesque historical place has a very strong community spirit. It hosts fishing boats, craft shops, pubs, restaurants and cockle sheds that stretch along the shoreline and beach. For vibrant shopping and socialising Leigh Broadway is a 5 minute walk away. The nature reserve at Two Tree Island is a short walk away and a little further on is the historical Hadleigh Castle ruin. A longer walk, or a short train ride away, is Southend-on-Sea where you will find various attractions including a high street, Adventure Island, The Sealife Centre and much more. A direct line to London Fenchurch Street takes 40 minutes, the shopping centre at Lakeside or Westfield are both approximately 30 minutes away. Regular daily buses run to all local towns. Scheduled flights operate from nearby London Southend Airport which is a 15 minute drive away. We can be flexible on check-in/out times and days, please ask if necessary. However an additional cost may apply. This is a 'dog friendly' cottage, we allow a maximum of 2 small/medium well behaved dogs. Please could you let us know if you are planning to bring dogs with you prior to confirming your booking. We do not accept hen/stag groups. For any guests with children please note that we don't supply stairgates, cots, highchairs or any other safety equipment. You will be greeted upon arrival with some essentials to keep you going while you settle in. The cottage is self catering, however, if you have any special requests please ask before your arrival. Please note that we DO NOT allow smoking inside the cottage. We kindly request that you leave the cottage in the same condition that you found it in. If your stay exceeds 7 days an additional cleaning fee may apply. This will be confirmed upon booking.
