Overlooking the cricket green & next to many miles of protected heathland, forest & fresh air in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only 15 mins' drive from Guildford & 35 mins' train ride from London - the perfect property for families, dog walkers & those wanting a country escape! This traditional country house, built by the Edwardian architect Harrison-Townsend, is located in 163 sq miles of protected heathland and forest across the Surrey Hills & borders the picturesque Blackheath Cricket Club. This house sleeps up to 9 people with 4 bedrooms (all with double beds or larger) and 3 bathrooms upstairs. The Chalon Kitchen is fully-equipped & features a red pillarbox 4-oven Aga, Utility Room & an adjoining Conservatory with views of the garden and cricket pitch. Enjoy a movie night in the Living Room with its open fireplace & 55" Smart TV or the Snug room, both have Sky and Netflix. The house stays warm in the winter with radiators and wood burning stoves but remains cool in the summer. Entertain guests in the Dining Room with its impressive open fireplace or try al fresco dining or the giant Green Egg BBQ in warmer weather on the garden patio under the retractable awning. There is a Sonos music system with in-ceiling speakers in 4 zones around the house, including the garden patio. In the garden, you can enjoy nature with our stunningly beautiful flowerbeds in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Tucked away, you are welcome to use our Candian Spa hot tub (the water is changed weekly and before your arrival). Guests have full and exclusive access to the Main House, terraces, gardens and hot tub. We have a wonderful Housekeeper who will be available on request 3 - 4 days a week and will assist as much or as little as needed. For the most part, this is at no extra charge but additional housekeeping services such as cleaning, babysitting or even cooking will be at an extra charge. Should you wish to entertain friends and have a dinner party, our Housekeeper can help you cater and serve drinks, etc. upon request for an extra fee. Situated in 163 sqm of protected heathland & forest, Blackheath has a vibrant & picturesque cricket club - cricket season is April to September. Fantastic pubs & tearooms are within walking distance. Guildford town centre with shops, supermarkets & restaurants is only 15 mins' drive. A 15 mins' drive is the town of Guildford with cobbled streets, shopping and fine restaurants. If you do not wish to drive we can arrange a taxi service but a car is recommended. Guildford also has a fast train (35 mins) into central London every 15 minutes so the opportunities are limitless; culture, historic interest, concerts, walking, museums, sporting events... My husband is a Londoner and is always very happy to plan visits to meet your interests. From Guildford station, you can also reach the South Coast in 45 minutes and visit the historic port of Portsmouth. We also have a local station (Chilworth - 20 minutes' walk) with trains to Guildford or to Gatwick Airport. Great location - private but part of a vibrant country village, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfectly placed for hiking, cycling or just visiting beautiful English villages, pubs and restaurants. Or simply enjoy watching a cricket match from the balcony or garden - nothing more English than sitting outside the cricket pavilion drinking a gin and tonic! All guests are provided with a Welcome Manual (hard copy or a PDF) with a list of our favourite things to do, places not to be missed, best pubs, and hikes (choose from a stroll to the gunpowder mills or a 12 mile hike along the North Downs). My husband is a keen cyclist and has a host of routes to share if you wish.
