One of many local and friendly pubs, The Royal Oak, is just across the way, serving real ale and craft gins. A short walk into Holmfirth and there are plenty of great restaurants and bars. From traditional pub meals to Italian and Thai food, Holmfirth has plenty to offer. Holmfirth is 'Last of the Summer Wine' country and if you're feeling nostalgic, you could enjoy fish and Chips from Compo's in the village, visit Nora Batty's Cottage or even Sid's Cafe. The centre of Holmfirth is a 15 minute walk away and from there you can find the tourist information centre. There are plently of walking routes to explore, some even passing the front door of the cottage. A 5-10 minute drive away is the stunning Digley resevior, one of many in the area. If walking into Holmfirth, it might be advisable to pick up a taxi or bus on your return, as the walk back is on a bit of a hill (would you really be in yorkshire without them) - unless you're feeling fit, of course.
