An abundance of fantastic walks and picture postcard villages surround, and a traditional Cotswold pub is also just within a stone’s throw from your doorstep. This charming Cotswold stone, Grade ll listed building is in an ideal location for visiting the Cotswolds. The property dates back to 1670 and is listed in the Domesday Book. It has been lovingly restored to the highest standard and retains many of its original features. On the ground floor, a cosy living room awaits, adorned with beams, a beautiful exposed stone fireplace with feature wood burner along with a super comfy sofa making it the perfect spot. There is a ground floor study with French doors that lead onto a pretty courtyard garden. So if you do have some e-mails or want to keep in touch via social media, you can enjoy some fresh air whilst doing so. Be sure on those brighter mornings and longer evenings to dine al fresco! It will inspire you to want to grab your compass and map and explore the Cotswold surroundings. Also on the ground floor is a well equipped kitchen with all the mod-cons you will need. Out of the kitchen window, admire the spires of the village church whilst sipping your coffee, along with a view of the farm where you can collect a bottle of fresh Cotswold milk every morning for your breakfast. Should cooking up a storm not be on your agenda, the farm also does themed foodie evenings and gourmet Sunday lunches for eating in or taking away. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with a cosy double, you will love the crisp white linens and soft duvets for the ultimate night’s sleep. You will most certainly be waking up completely recharged and ready for the day’s adventures. Just across the large and spacious landing there is a family bathroom which includes a bath and separate shower. A little beyond your idyllic retreat is Stroud, with a variety of Bohemian shops and eateries. The Saturday farmers’ market provides you with all the fresh provisions you may need during your stay. Yew Tree Cottage sits within walkers’ heaven, with The Cotswold way right on the doorstep. You can choose numerous other walks with Selsey, Rodborough and Minchinhampton being highly regarded. Kids love a picnic on Minchinhampton Common. Some very special local ’celebrities’ might just join you if they take a liking to your Victoria sponge. If going off the grid is not for you, there is a paved walk from Stonehouse to Nailsworth which is great for little legs and breaking in your walking boots. A visit to Tetbury is recommended to browse the shops and eateries and visit a lovely local wine shop. There are several National Trust properties to visit and Woodchester Park is a lovely walk under trees. Westonbirt Arboretum often hosts outdoor seasonal events and makes a great day out. Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a great venue for all the family and is a haven of wide open spaces bursting with wetland wildlife!
