Welcome to the Cottage on the Farm! Enjoy a private getaway, but still be close to everything! 45 minutes from Boreal Ski Resort, 90 minutes from Tahoe or the Napa Valley, and only 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco, whatever you like to do, the Cottage is a perfect home base. Whether you like skiing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, wine tasting or antique shopping, or just relaxing, you have come to the right area. For years our friends have enjoyed visiting in the cottage, and they have encouraged us to share it with you! The cottage has been newly refurbished--with everything! Brand new deluxe queen size bed with cozy bedding, table and chairs that look out the french doors on the property. Futon that can sleep two. There's also a small desk. There is no TV, but there is good wifi and you can stream movies or videos on your device. Kitchen area has fridge, microwave, hotplate, large toaster oven, crock-pot, electric skillet, rice cooker, blender, spices, utensils and more. We supply coffee, tea, creamer, sugar and small snacks for your convenience. If you need a special ingredient, just ask. We have a pretty well-stocked kitchen in the main house. There is also an outside cooking area, with a BBQ and 2 burner propane stove. Propane heat will keep you toasty in cold weather. There is also a swamp cooler and fans for when the weather heats up. Bathroom has shower, sink and toilet and a door that leads to the pool area. You have access to all the property during your stay. Our property is a mini farm, so there are some things to be aware of. There is an unfenced pond on the property, so if you have small children you need to be aware of this. Sit on the dock and gaze at the water lilies and listen to the frogs at night. Take a nap in the hammock or float in the pool on a lazy afternoon. The pool is available for your use. We have beach towels and floats. In the evening, have a fire in the fire pit and make s'mores while you look at the stars. You can feed the chickens and collect eggs if you like. July is blackberry season and we have tons of them! In the fall we harvest apples and peaches. Also on our property is our barn which houses the workshop for our wooden puzzle business--The Puzzle Man. We have been making wooden puzzles since 1976 when I quit my full time job as a Denny's waitress to make puzzles for a living. We did craft shows for many years, but now just run the online business. We are happy to give you a tour! There is a washer and dryer on the mud porch of the main house that you are welcome to use if necessary. We also have an iron, ironing board and probably anything else you might need. We are here to make your stay enjoyable! The cottage is completely separate from the house, so you can have all the privacy you want. We are always available to answer questions or help with whatever you need. We are only a mile from Interstate 80, so it's easy to get wherever you're going! You have access to all the property--sit out on the dock and enjoy coffee or a cocktail. In the summer, wander out back and pick blackberries. Hang out by the pool or go for a swim. There is an outdoor fire pit and we supply the s'mores fixings. In the spring you might see ducks on the pond and there are over 30 species of birds right on and around our property! Fall asleep to the sound of the frogs croaking on the pond or stay up late and stargaze while you cook s'mores! We are on the property during your stay, but will not invade your privacy. We love to visit and share travel stories, but we understand if you've come here for a private getaway! We will interact as much as you wish and will be on call if you need anything at all. This is a rural area, but is close to so many attractions. Into micro brews or wine? Auburn has some great breweries and a great wine trail. Hiking or biking? We've got that! Did you say water? We are close to the Bear River, the American River, Rollins Lake and more! Are you a skier? Less than an hour up the hill to some great resorts. History buff? You've come to the right place. There is no public transportation here, but I have a list of local Uber and Lyft drivers that can get you where you need to go if you don't want to drive. There is so much to do in our area!!!
