Charming, contemporary cottage with stunning courtyard garden. Close to picturesque village of Newdigate in the heart of the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Perfect for a secluded break with family and friends or business. Near market towns of Dorking, Reigate and Horsham, Gatwick Airport, M25 and M23 (15 mins) and a leisurely 45 minutes drive to Brighton. Lots of quaint country pubs, wonderful countryside, near Leith Hill and many National Trust places of interest. Our cosy cottage is in the heart of a small and tranquil hamlet community. It offers the ultimate chill out and unwind space surrounded by fields and woodland. Wake up to horse riders, cyclists, wild geese and deer roaming the nearby fields. No street lighting lit by the stars........ideal for a weekend away or holiday, local weddings, walking, fishing or cycling breaks, a business trip, a bolt hole before or after international trips. Here is what our place has to offer: Enter the cottage into the main living area. Walk from the kitchen into the open plan lounge area fitted with wooden venetian blinds where there are comfortable sofas, a coffee table, a flat screen TV, apple box, DVD & CD players, DVDs, books and a selection of games and toys for young children. A fully equipped kitchen with rangemaster cooker (two ovens and a griddle), fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher (with tablets), microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, tableware and serving dishes for 6 people with kitchen and cookery utensils. There is a selection of tea, coffee, cereals and a comprehensive range of store cupboard essentials. Nespresso Vertuo pods included for first night. An extendable table in the kitchen can be used as a desk space or to enjoy meals in the cottage (kitchen or the sitting room) or the courtyard garden accessed by the stable door. The garden has a great decked area, table and chairs for outdoor meals with a large umbrella to shade you on sunny days. Join us for a game of table tennis or badminton in the garden. On the ground floor there is a large bathroom with shower (including handheld), heated towel rail, hairdryer and toiletries. The open pine staircase leads to two bedrooms and one small single room; both bedrooms have comfortable double beds, lots of luxury touches including egyptian cotton sheets and towels; decor is country classic and welcoming, both relaxing and peaceful. The bedrooms have low sloping walls/exposed beams and may not be suitable for tall and older people. All the bedrooms have Velux windows fitted with blackout blinds. Bedroom one - has pine flooring, a double bed, large wardrobe, chest of drawers, feature rug and two bedside tables with lamps. Bedroom two - has pine flooring, double bed, extensive built-in drawer storage, floor rug, two bedside tables with lamps. Bedroom two opens into a small dressing room. Bedroom three - the dressing room has a small work station desk and chair dressing table/chest of drawers and a hanging rail for clothes. Although small it can accommodate a mattress or blow-up bed, portable cot or Z bed. The cottage is equipped with a Z-bed, an Airbed mattress, a portable cot, changing mat, baby towels and bed linen. For busy Mums there is a range of backup baby necessities to use during your stay. Our courtyard garden is sheltered and sunny from early morning until the evening when beautiful lighting transforms the garden completely. There is also a wrought iron table, chairs, pit fire and gas barbecue in the garden. Everything you need to get away from the pressures of everyday life and chill! Coronavirus measures - we are committed to the Airbnb 5-step Covid sanitisation programme. Extra supplies of hand towels are available upon request. Hand wash and antibac gel. There is separate gated access to the cottage and secure parking for 2 cars on our drive. Courtyard Garden cottage has the best view of the garden. Our home, a converted barn is situated across the courtyard garden. The moment you walk out of the property you are surrounded by picturesque tranquil country views with footpaths for walkers and ramblers. Follow footpaths from the cottage and enjoy the scenery, lakes with walks into the villages of Newdigate and Capel. You can fish within 5 minutes of our home at Newdigate Farms. This is an excellent area for both rambling and cycling holidays in the Surrey Hills with fantastic access to bike trails around the Surrey Hills, including Leith Hill with its famous tower and the challenging London Olympics cycle race route. If the dates you are looking for seem to be unavailable please contact us as it is sometimes possible to juggle the calendar around. We have a comprehensive folder with information about the local area, fun places to visit, pubs and restaurants. There are three quintessentially English pubs within a five minute drive of the cottage, two of which cater for families with children (play area) and a local farm shop which serves delicious food from breakfast until late afternoon. Best pub food can be found right here in the village at the Six Bells. The Surrey Oaks at the far end of the village regularly wins best ale awards for Surrey & Sussex. The contemporary, Fox Revived is amazing and well worth a visit. The Parrot at Forest Green has just reopened to rave reviews. Recommend booking in advance. For all basic needs, our local store, Bob's shop is less than 2 minutes drive away. Bob also runs the post office and if you run out of wine, rush to Bob's its open to 7pm. There is an organic farm shop in the village of Ockley with a great gift shop. Their produce is sourced as close to the shop as possible and includes: • local free range chicken, meat & sausages • freshly baked local breads & pastries • local cheeses, smoked fish & cold meats • olives, pâtés & dips • local ice cream • organic and fair trade groceries • seasonal plants…. and lots more! In Dorking, you can enjoy a wide variety of attractions to include the leisure centre, cinema, museum, antique shops, a variety of traditional and contemporary tea and coffee shops, wonderful deli food and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants. Enjoy the stunning countryside and wonderful walks. We are close to both Leith and Box Hill and Denbies Vineyard with wine tours, cream teas and a thriving restaurant. There are a wealth of beautiful National Trust homes and gardens to visit including Polesden Lacey, Clandon Park, Winkworth Aboretum, Petworth House, Standen House arts & crafts home, Arundel Castle (home of the Duke of Norfolk), Batemans the inspirational home of the author Rudyard Kipling and finally, Chartwell in Kent home of our famous Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. The county of West Sussex is five minutes drive away with easy access to Brighton, Hastings, Battle, Worthing, Littlehampton and many other British seaside towns and villages. There is a local bus service to Dorking and surrounding towns and plenty of reasonably priced taxi services details of which are in the Cottage. Ockley and Holmwood are the nearest railway stations, but there is a much better service from Dorking mainline station, ten minutes drive from the Cottage. To really make the best of your stay a car is a smart option or a bicycle! You can walk to the nearest pub and village shop - it’s a mile from our home. If you drive into Dorking for shopping I would recommend you park at the Waitrose supermarket car park. As long as you buy something you can park free for two hours. Bank holidays, Christmas and New Year - minimum of three nights.
