Our cosy little cottage has far reaching views over the Holmfirth hills. Breakfast or BBQ on the front terrace. It has everything you need for a self catered stay, a five minute walk away from the centre of Holmfirth. We are dog friendly, two gated gardens allow you peace of mind. Enjoy many local walks. Our neighbours are really informative and friendly. Enjoy internet and a smart 43 inch TV, plus games and cards. Wake up in the comfortable king-size bed to views across the valley. Our quirky little cottage is set amongst the hills of Holmfirth , it is a wonderful chilled get away. We have used many recycled materials within the cottage, recycled wood for fencing, shelves, seating , we have battered leather sofas which are very comfortable. It's very suitable for single visitors, couples or friends, but we have also had families stay. It has slept five of us but this was a squash..its perfect for two. The front terrace garden overlooks the valley with far reaching views. This beautiful view also comes with a hill to walk up and down to the centre of Holmfirth. Our house is dog and animal friendly, ( Not just dog tolerant). You won't arrive and find lots of do's and don't's, your dog is welcome anywhere in our house and I want nothing more than you all to be able to relax. We don't and won't ever charge anything extra for dogs. We also provide dog bowls, dog towels, biscuits and doggy bags, we have a mud daddy so you can either take this on walks with you or use it to clean your dog in the garden, so hopefully you don't have to pack too much. It's not a big house so a maximum of three dogs I would recommend. Both gardens are gated and fenced, allowing your dog a free space to roam in and out of the house. There are lots of walks around the area, and an entrance to clean up your pet after muddy walks. We have leather sofas so you are able to snuggle up together. The house has one bedroom and a family bathroom, downstairs is open plan with a kitchen and living room area. The living area has comfortable sofas and a picture window with views overlooking the Holmfirth hills. There is WiFi and 43 inch smart TV with a Netflix account. The smaller leather sofa is also a comfortable double bed, which gives flexibility with sleeping arrangements. The kitchen is perfect for working together, we love cookiing here. We have everything you need to create home cooked meals including oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, pots and pans, and basic cooking essentials such as oil, spices, herbs ( fresh in the front garden) and salt. Coffee, a cafeteria, teas, sugar and milk is also provided, (Let me know what type of milk you'd prefer) .We also provide tea towels, cloths and scrubbers. Upstairs there is a bathroom with a newly fitted over bath shower. We provide shampoo, conditioner, bath soak, shower gel and bath sheets and bath towels. There is also a single bed on the landing area. The bedroom has a comfortable king sized bed, a chest of drawers, hanging space, handy shelves, bedside lamps, and a bed tray to treat yourselves to breakfast in bed. It's very quiet with just the sound of the water at the bottom of Holmfirth, a huge tree outside makes me feel like I'm sleeping in a tree house. Views across the valley are wonderful to wake up to. A door upstairs leads to a stepped back garden with views over the roof. We watched the Tour de Yorkshire from up here. The small garden is well stocked and fully enclosed and safe. Holmfirth is hilly and our house is on a hill, due to the five. steps up to the property, the steps within, the stepped garden out the back, and it's location, this property may not be suitable for people with mobility issues or young children. You are able to drive to the front of the house to drop bags off but the road is narrow and you can't turn around, so you can either reverse ( I wouldn't do this), or you can drive on the lower road and find your way back to the upper part of South lane. It is only a thirty second walk from South lane so it's perfectly possible to carry bags, which maybe a good alternative. The house is a 5 minute walk to the centre of Holmfirth ( ten minute walk back up due to the steep hill), In the centre of Holmfirth there are many restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets. Last of the summer wine exhibits. There's a swimming baths, gym and crown green bowling. Live music is commonly played at many venues notably the Picturedrome. Parking is free, on street but not outside the property, we park on the upper part of South lane which is a short (30 second) walk away. The whole house and gardens are available. I live close by, so I am on hand if needed. I am happy be contacted at most times. Holmfirth is a simply stunning small town high in the Holm valley of West Yorkshire, it is nestled in the pennines about six miles south of Huddersfield. The river Holm runs through the middle of the town, the TV comedy series Last of the Summer Wine and Where the heart is, were both filmed here. The town has a reputation for good food and live music, a visit to the Picturedrome and the Vineyard is a must. Very dog friendly, many cafes and restuarants are more than welcoming. In the centre of Holmfirth is a busy bus depot which serves all the local areas. Taxis are a reasonable cost. The cottage is a five minute walk from the centre. You can not park directly outside the house but you can park freely on the adjoining road called Cinderhills. Holmfirth is a busy little town that appeals to all ages, with lots of events ( Obviously things have been curtailed due to covid), but the community page Holmfirtevents.couk is a great way of checking what's going on in the area. The restaurants around Holmfirth have a fantastic reputation and there's the annual food festival. Favourites are the Catch , Whippet and Pickle and the Old Bridge. Holmfirth has a great reputation for live music. If you want a great experience book yourself into the Picturedrome, it won the small venue of the year a few years ago. The Whippet and Pickle has a small room used for a cinema, a lovely intimate experience. I love to find treasures in the town's many second hand shops. Use the local greengrocer and bakery, find an excuse to go into the hardware shop, some great customer service. Explore the town's history , enjoy the tours of the Last of the Summer Wine series. The people of Holmfirth are so very friendly and genuinely helpful. Visit the galleries ,Holmfirth is a very Arty town, the annual Art festival is a must to see and then there's the Arts festival with wonderful parades.
