Historic Farmhouse J

Enjoy a quiet stay in an historic circa 1850 Farmhouse in a large private bedroom on a 10-acre horse farm. We work and live here so are rarely not around when guests arrive, however, there is a smart lock for self check-in when needed. We have two guest rooms; this is room J. We are located about 40 minutes from PHL Airport, 30 minutes from Wilmington, DE., and 1.5 hours from Atlantic City, NJ. The Salem Nuclear Plant is 10 minutes away. Elsinboro is a small town of about 1,000 people and we are also close to Salem NJ which was originally laid out in 1675. The home was originally built in 1850 and then added to over the years. We don't know when the barn was built, but it was here before the house. Old homes do not have central AC and so there is a window AC in the room during the summer. There is heat in the winter. You will have a trundle bed in the room with memory foam mattresses. The home does not have central AC, but there is an AC unit in the room and a ceiling fan. We do have wifi and there is a desk area in the room if you need to work. Guests will have full access to almost everything. Feel free to cook and use the kitchen. We also have washer and dryer if needed. We enjoy meeting people and are happy to show you around. If you prefer privacy, that is fine also. This is not only our home, but also our workplace. Therefore we can generally visit with you or ignore you depending on your preference. We tend not to stay up late at night and ask that our guests check in before 8 p.m. Once you are in, however, feel free to come and go as you please. There is plenty of parking and can accommodate any size trailer or RV. Salem Township offers a lot to the history buff. The Salem County Courthouse is the second oldest in the States. Don't forget to visit the Salem Oak, which is estimated to be 500 years old. We can give you directions to a public beach on the bank of the Delaware River about 3 minutes from here if that interests you. This is also a great area for fresh seafood. It's possible to buy crabs caught this morning and cook them in the afternoon. Another popular attraction, about 20 minutes away, is the Cowtown Rodeo on Saturday nights. Often some of the horses you see in the rodeo on Saturday night are grazing in our field on Sunday morning. This is a rural community and so there are no stores within walking distance. This is a working horse farm. We have time periods without horses, but generally there are some. We do ask that you check with us before interacting with any animals on the property. You are more than welcome to wander around and explore, but please do not leave any gates open.
