Peak District cottage in Youlgreave - great walks
An 18th century former pub, now converted into a cosy cottage. In the heart of Youlgreave, a village with three pubs, a bakery, a post office and general store, a well-stocked village shop and deli, a 12th century church and tea rooms. Fantastic walks from the front door into Bradford Dale, Lathkill Dale and over to Robin Hood's Stride, Harthill Moor and Nine Ladies Stone Circle. Easy access to Bakewell, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Buxton. The house has private parking for three cars. A spacious sitting room with an open fire and a dining table that seats six. A well-equipped kitchen. A hall with plenty of space for walking boots and coats. Two double bedrooms. A bathroom with bath and shower. A spare room for storing luggage. Guests will have exclusive occupation of the house, with free on-site private parking for up to three cars in a gravelled area of the garden behind the house. Your hosts are five minutes' walk along the main street in Youlgreave and will be very pleased to help with any recommendations on places to eat, drink, shop, walk or cycle in the local area. The house is in the heart of Youlgreave, across the road from the 12th century church and a few doors along the street from The George, one of the village's three pubs. A further pub, The Bull's Head, the bakery, the post office and general store, the well-stocked village shop and deli and the tea rooms are all within a five-minute walk. There are fantastic walks from the front door into Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale and over to Robin Hood's Stride, Harthill Moor and Nine Ladies Stone Circle. There is easy access to Bakewell, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Buxton. The house is close to a bus stop offering services to the historic market town of Bakewell. The nearest railway station is Matlock, 8.5 miles away. Chesterfield Station is 14 miles away and offers direct services to London in as little as 1 hour 47 minutes. Manchester, Birmingham and East Midlands airports are within less than 90 minutes' drive. The M1 motorway is just over 30 minutes' drive. At the back of the house there is a small garden comprising a limestone gravelled area with parking for three cars, a small grassed area and a limestone paved area with a table and chairs. The garden is not fenced on all sides and we do not claim that it is the idyllic English country cottage garden, but a number of our guests have mentioned that they have made use of the table and chairs to sit outside for a cup of coffee in between exploring the beautiful scenery that can be accessed on foot from the front door of the house.
