Designed and built by me and my sons and grandson in 2016, this Tiny House Trailer overlooks the River Wreake and the grazing pastures beyond. It has a long double bunk bed with a generous single bed beneath. It has a deck over Composting toilet just outside, plus a conventional toilet and shower close by. Camp kitchen available 10 metres away, with basic cooking facilities. We have recently added 240v power for lights and a fan heater but you can still use the 12v lights and the wood stove I have wanted to make a Tiny House for many years, in fact one of our Cabins was listed on Tiny House Swoon , but this really is a Tiny House.. We built it ourselves, based on an old trailer, and the design is totally unique, although it is inspired by the whole Tiny House movement. It is sited on the banks of the River Wreake, where we have canoes which you can use. It has a tiny wood burning stove which not only warms the space but allows you to heat a kettle. The Trailer was totally off grid for years, but lots of guests asked us to put an extension lead across so we have now put in 240 v electricity for both lights and a fan heater or kettle. However, you can still have the off grid experience if you wish, as the 12 v lights are still in place, and everyone likes the tiny wood stove. You can bring your own (dry) firewood, or buy it here .. ust sit on the swing seat and look out over the river and the fields beyond, with beautiful Lincoln Red cattle wandering about . Take a paddle up the river, watch the kingfishers and ( occasionally) the otters. Sit round a camp fire.. Bedding is provided but I recommend sleeping bags too, especially in frosty weather. In addition to the Tiny House Trailer, we have two home made wooden cabins ( very different from one another) and a Yurt. Depending on the dates of your visit, you may well encounter other guests here ( we have 2.5 acres of grounds, so plenty of space). You can use the canoes You can have a camp fire or BBQ You can borrow our bikes You can climb up into the Treehouse ( please leave the door bolted at the bottom of the staircase so parents can decide if they want to let their children climb up) You can use the large lawns for ball games We have 2 home made cabins and a yurt here too, so you might see other guests during your stay, depending on the time of year. One of us is generally around at the house ( a Grade 2 listed Victorian Railway station), but we will generally leave you to yourself unless you need anything I will be encouraging you to make suggestions. All around you are examples of adaptations we have made as a result of suggestions from guests; the latest is a swing seat and small decking area at the front of the Trailer facing the river. I speak French and German if that helps Our valley is in an Area of Particularly Attractive Countryside, with pretty little villages dotted along it. Lots of tall hedges, welcoming pubs, cattle grazing, lovely walks. We are about 2 miles from the nearest small shops, and 3 miles from the nearest supermarket. The nearest pub is the Blue Bell in Hoby ( 1 mile), which serves excellent meals and has a lovely outdoor area looking out over the valley towards our house. There is a great delicatessen and cafe 2 miles away in Thrussington which makes a good target for a nice long walk along by the river. Leicester is a vibrant, happy, multi cultural city with many facets, and we can recommend some brilliant places to eat there. We are about 500 metres from the bus stop on the A607 at Brooksby, where you can catch the 5a Arriva bus to Melton Mowbray or Leicester. 3 miles away is Syston station, 6 miles is Melton Mowbray station, and Leicester station is 9 miles away. Let me know if you need a lift, I may be able to help. Our house is a former Victorian railway station.. you need to be aware that the trains still run, and you will hear them..
