Our lovely comfortable home is a 600 year old cottage with a wealth of character. This charming and unique 3 bedroom Grade II listed cottage is packed with features; beams in every room, original fireplaces and doors and contemporary kitchen and bathrooms. Great location in the Chilterns, close to amenities and convenient for travel to Oxfordshire, London and beyond. A families, friends, cyclists and walkers haven and business executives also most welcome! Covid-19 update...... Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to keep our guests and staff safe at this time. We have changed our booking status to a minimum of 10 days until the end of September. This is to allow for extra time before and after each booking for the enhanced cleaning process to take place, making shorter stays nonviable. We have updated our procedures and cleaning protocols taking into account the additional disinfection requirement and adequate ventilation of the property. Minimal contact will take place with guests who will be able to self check in, spare laundry will be left for mid-term changes as necessary and self check out....... From the front hall, access the modern, well equipped kitchen and sun room (dining/sitting area) which has a new sofa and 50" TV with Sky entertainment package. Two sets of bi-fold doors open out onto the sunny garden, recently overhauled and replanted with grass area, raised flower border and sunny patio with gas BBQ (gas supplied). Enjoy inside/outside entertainment from this comfortable, sitting area and watch the red kites circling overhead! The study has a good desk area with printer/copier available for your use. There is coat hanging and a shoe rack and the cloakroom, leading off the study, houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. The sitting room has a comfortable chaise sofa and "snuggle" chair beside the log burner for cozy evenings and plenty of games and puzzles for those lazy afternoons! From here you can see the original 16th century wattle and daub walls and a wealth of beams. The stairs lead to an open landing with two good sized double rooms, one double with new pocket sprung/memory foam mattress and a twin which can be made up as a kingsize bed on request at the time of booking. The family bathroom is also on this floor. The winding original stairs (may be problematic for the very young or infirm) lead to the master bedroom which boasts the most magnificent beams, pretty much unchanged since the day the house was built! This large double bedroom (new pocket sprung and foam top mattress) with TV leads through to a dressing area with wardrobe and plenty of drawer space and leads to the ensuite shower room. All the linen is Egyptian cotton, the house if fully centrally heated and mostly double glazed. Off street parking for 2 cars, private sunny garden with BBQ, outdoor furniture and herbs for cooking if you are so inclined. The house was completely renovated 4 years ago and has been totally re-decorated this year to keep it in perfect condition. Full access to the whole house (apart from a couple of cupboards for my personal belongings). Please note that the stairs to the top floor (main bedroom suite) are quite steep, probably not suitable for the infirm or very young children. Our housekeeper is next door and available 24/7 for any issues. We are also available via email and mobile phone any time. Watlington boasts good amenities; 3 pubs, Indian restaurant, fish and chip shop, Co-op, chemist, excellent butcher, deli, Chocolatier, 2 hairdressers, library and market vegetable stall twice a week. Friendly town reputed to be the smallest in England. Public footpaths across open fields to the famous "Ridgeway", various rural villages with gastro and casual pubs close by.
