At the base of the Blue Ridge mountains located near hiking trails, and a variety of outdoor activities like biking, kayaking & canoeing, this secluded retreat offers a quiet place to rest. Drink from the Healing Spring discovered in 1883. Locally groundhogs (or woodchucks) are frequently called "Whistle Pigs". Our rustic Whistle Pig Cabin is a great space for the budget conscious traveler. A plush full size bed in this cabin tucked up into the woods near a little creek makes for a great nights sleep! Adirondack chairs along a babbling brook with a charcoal BBQ are next to the cabin. Please note this is a "rustic" cabin and does not have a private bathroom, guests utilize the semi private bathroom with shower located inside our Lodge building. This camping cabin does have electricity, a mini-fridge, coffee pot and microwave. It has A/C, heat and a ceiling fan. Bed and bath linens are provided! Guests have the entire cabin to themselves. I live on the property and am available if you need anything during your stay.l Located in the heart of Ashe County, and just 18 miles from Grayson Highlands State Park, close to everything that there is to see and do. Hike, bike, canoe, kayak, explore the quaint shops, drive down quiet country roads, our area has a lot to offer! We do not have any public transportation. Healing Springs is a special place. Discovered in 1884 and originally called Thompson's Bromine and Arsenic Springs. The property was then known as Healing Springs Resort in later years, and is now simply called The Cabins at Healing Springs. The natural spring is purported to have mystical healing abilities and rumored to have cured everything from poison ivy to rheumatism, indigestion to ulcers. Today, our cabins are all equipped with a water pitcher so you can enjoy the fresh spring water in your cabin any time during your stay. A two night stay is required on weekends. All major holidays require a 3 night minimum stay. Ask us about 1 nights stay on weekends as we can sometimes accommodate :) We check guests in between 4pm and 8pm, but can make arrangements for late check ins. Early check ins can sometimes be accommodated, just ask us :) Check out is by 11am. Dogs are allowed in this cabin. Our dog fee is weight based. Check with us prior to bringing a dog please.
