A beautiful, well maintained house with an absolutely stunning view. It is well situated, only around 400 meters to the harbor and the town´s center. It´s in the center although also off the beaten track..just the perfect little hidden nest. A beautiful, well maintained house with an absolutely stunning view. It is well situated, only around 400 meters to the harbor and the town´s center. The kitchen is bright and well equipped for any kind of meal. Even though the house is only 46m2 it is very well organized and can easily fit 4-5 people. It is perfect for a family with the 2 children sleeping in the bunks. There is only one bedroom but 4 people can be fitted in that bedroom. There is a queen size bed where 2 can sleep and a bunk for 2 persons. Some adults could find the bunks too small for them and should have that in mind. The living room is extremely bright and cozy with it´s exceptional view and old wooden floors. One can forget time and place just by looking out the living room window. In the living room is the most awesomely comfortable sofa where it´s nice to take a nap after a good meal. Additionally there is available a sleeping cot where one person can be fitted very nicely. Believe it or not, there are three other rooms in the house additionally to the bedroom, living room and the kitchen. There is a big shower room. Yes, that´s right...you can run around in the shower and enjoy the space. Then there is a separate room for the toilet facility but it´s not recommended to do any running while using the toilet. :) And finally there is a storage and a washing room where you can put your dirty laundry into the old washing machine. Stykkishólmur is by many considered the most beautiful town in Iceland, with it´s magnificent harbor and it´s many old restored houses. Stykkishólmur is in fact a museum of old houses which have recently been renovated, giving the town a charming look. Stykkisholmur has a wide selection of restaurants as well as galleries and museums. First and foremost is the very much so interesting museum "The Library of Water". The library building has been altered in a number of ways to make a calm and beautiful viewing room which also houses three related collections: of water, words, and weather reports. A constellation of 24 glass columns flows into the main room. The columns contain water collected as ice from some of the major glaciers in Iceland, formed many millennia ago and now rapidly receding. There is also a volcano museum which is also very interesting. The water in Stykkishólmur has received recognition for purity and spa qualities. The swimming pool in Stykkishólmur is a warm outdoor pool with 57m long water slide, which is the second longest slide in the country. You can also find a wading pool, two hot tubs and 12m indoor pool . The hot tubs have healthy water and is supposed to be healing for the one´s that suffer from all kinds of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. There are lots and lots of other things to do. For example bird- and nature watching on a boat in a unique landscape between the thousand islands of the Breidafjördur fjord. Experience a lot of different bird kinds like puffins, cormorants, the white tailed eagle, kittiwakes and more. See islands with incredible basalt forms and taste scallops and sea urchin fresh from the sea. You can also take the ferry which sails across the fjord from Stykkisholmur twice a day, stopping at the island Flatey, where there is the possibility of a stopover between trips. In recent years the old village in Flatey has been restored and is today one of the oldest and best preserved villages in Iceland. On the island there is a camping site, restaurant and sleeping bag accommodation. But...you can also just stay on the beautiful veranda...enjoy your red wine for example and admire the ocean view and the sunset. The sunset is so awesome up there that tourists and locals literally plant themselves there come midnight and enjoy the stunning picture sunset. This can all be yours to enjoy. This is a self catering unit. There are bed linens , quilts and pillows on site but no service available at this time. Guests will have to put sheets on beds and leave those in laundry upon departure. Guests are expected to leave the unit clean and ready for next guests.
