Beautiful Old Cottage in the Peak District
This is an ideal location for a holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Tweedledum Cottage is an antique one bedroom dwelling, perfect for a romantic break for two. Pets are welcome (downstairs only). The cottage is in the village of Youlgreave, surrounded by beautiful countryside, with Chatsworth fifteen minutes’ drive away and Haddon Hall closer still. There is lovely walking from the cottage, both along Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale. There are excellent pubs minutes' walk away. The cottage is a very cosy and comfortable place to stay. It is decorated in a plain and simple way. It has gas-fired central heating. The sitting room has a flat screen tv/dvd player with freeview channels and a collection of dvds. Wi-fi provided. There is a large, comfortable Italian leather sofa. The kitchen is equipped with basic store cupboard essentials, gas cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The bedroom has a king size Italian carved four poster canopy bed and is accessed by a staircase. The bathroom has a bath and in-bath shower. Bath towels and toiletries are provided for guests. The walled garden is raised and catches the sun. There is a garden table and chairs. The cottage has a dedicated off road parking space. A private, sunny, small walled garden with garden furniture and basic bbq equipment is to the rear of the cottage. A keysafe allows guests to arrive and depart from the cottage at their convenience. The owners are not far away and contactable by phone/email/ (Hidden by Airbnb) . They will be available in case of uncertainty or problems and can usually be there to welcome guests if requested. A great location for walking, bird watching, climbing, and visiting renowned historic sites. The village is centrally located in the Peak District National Park, with beautiful countryside, great pubs and handy local shops. There are many beautiful walks from the cottage, along Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale, to Stanton Moor with its stone circle, as well as the picturesque neighbouring villages of Over Haddon, Birchover, Winster and Stanton-in-Peak. The market towns of Bakewell and Matlock are within easy reach. Youlgrave has three dog-friendly pubs which all serve food, two offering take-away, plus ‘Youngs of Youlgrave’ Post Office/shop, Amy’s well-stocked Village Shop and Tea-Room, and Peak Feast Bakery and Cafe. The medieval parish church is full of interest and has stained glass by Burne-Jones. Youlgreave is a working village with its own primary school and a strong community spirit. It is within easy reach of local market towns by car or country bus services. Walking, personal transport, local country bus services and taxi services. The cottage will accommodate a baby if guests bring a travel cot. It is not suitable for toddlers (there is open access to the stairs from the sitting room and the bedroom) and people with mobility difficulties will find the stairs to the bedroom and steps to the garden difficult.
