New! Tiny House(boat) on the Lake
Open for Summer Fun! Our Tiny House(boat) on Kinderhook Lake doesn't leave the dock, but we've included a canoe, life jackets, & fishing gear for you to explore the lake. Walk right into the water from our big yard. Fish, swim, relax around the firepit. BBQ. A new, clean, private outside entrance bath in the main house for your comfort. Fridge, microwave & cooler here, and supplies & restaurants are nearby. Sorry, no WiFi, but good data reception. We're next door if you need anything. Only 2 1/2 hours from NYC, and a short drive to Hudson or Albany, this is a charming tiny stationary houseboat on peaceful Kinderhook Lake. You'll mostly be enjoying the outdoors, since there’s no WiFi. You can walk from our yard right into the lake to fish or swim. (Great fishing, btw). You'll have use of our canoe, life jackets, fishing gear, bbq, a fire pit, and lots of seating areas -- even a covered patio attached to the under-renovation house. At night the solar twinkling lights complement the fireflies. The private bath house is attached to the main house, and is new, modern, and sparkling clean. There's a large ice chest, a microwave, coffee maker and coffee, tea, etc. to hold you over till you get supplies. Great for couples, fishing buddies, or a memory-making parent & child trip. You should know a few things about this unique stay: A. The two beds are as long as twin beds, but narrower. Although we don’t have WiFi ( you can use data), we do have power to recharge your phones, etc. B. You have to be able to climb in and out from the dock to the boat. C. We're on the canal route from the public launch to the main lake. There's slow moving water traffic and a train whistle. We'll supply ear plugs, just in case you want to sleep in. D. This isn't the wilderness, although wildlife does abound: deer, geese, chipmunks, birds, fish, etc. all live here. And Bailey, our neighbor's pup, stealthily shows up uninvited sometimes. E. Groceries, restaurants, gas, etc. are only a 5-minute drive away. My guidebook is online and on the boat. If you have any special interests, ask me and I'll root around to see what I can find. F. This is an “outdoorsy” experience, so weather factors into it. And lastly, a few definite no-nos: no parties, no more than 2 people, no pets, and no tents on the premises. Please be aware that Sound travels over water, and we have neighbors. Or, as they taught us in kindergarten, "use your inside voice". Come join us. Fish are jumpin’. :D A car is a must. Free Parking is available on premises. Plus, you'll need a car to sightsee our beautiful area. We live 2 doors away. I'll meet you for check-in, and then leave you to enjoy your stay. If you need me, I'm right nearby. This is a friendly, laid-back lake community. There are people and pets around, as well as wildlife. We're on the main water route from the public boat launch to the main part of the lake, so we get boat traffic going by in nice weather, as well as the train whistle when the train comes by. Great if you like people, not so much if you're expecting a wilderness experience. The roads around the lake are very nice for walking, and you can usually meet a few others along the road. Stores & restaurants are as near as a 5-minute drive. No public transport. You must have a car. Parking on the property, steps from the dock. Please read 10 1/2 Commandments in House Rules before booking.
